With almost 25 percent of all nonretired adults having no retirement savings or pension, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2019’s Best States to Retire as well as accompanying videos.

To help retirees find a safe, enjoyable and wallet-friendly place to call home, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 46 key metrics. The data set ranges from adjusted cost of living to weather to quality of public hospitals.

Retiring in Utah (1=Best; 25=Avg.)

  • 26th – Adjusted Cost of Living
  • 24th – Annual Cost of In-Home Services
  • 12th – WalletHub ‘Taxpayer’ Ranking
  • 13th – Life Expectancy

NEA President joins members on UTLA strike lines in Los Angeles
National #RedForEd movement hits country’s second-largest school district

LOS ANGELES — NEA President Lily Eskelsen García, who heads the nation’s largest union that represents more than 3 million educators, including those working in Los Angeles Unified School District, will join thousands of UTLA members, parents and community leaders on the picket lines of what is poised to be one of the largest teacher union strikes in the nation’s history, beginning Monday.

The National Education Association is the national union of the United Teachers Los Angeles, which represents more than 35,000 members, making it the nation’s second largest local teachers union. The Los Angeles teachers’ strike is just the latest in the national #RedForEd movement that was triggered by the walkouts and work actions last spring in West Virginia, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Arizona, Colorado, North Carolina and Washington state. The #RedForEd movement also prompted nearly 1,900 educators to run for elected office in state legislatures during the 2018 Midterms with more than half winning their elections.
