IMMY JOHN’S VOWS TO NEVER USE THIRD-PARTY DELIVERY SERVICES
Doesn’t trust Uber Eats, Grubhub or anyone else to deliver its sandwiches freaky fast
and freaky fresh
CHAMPAIGN, IL (February 7, 2019) – Jimmy John’s, one of America’s fastest-growing sandwich franchises, announced that it will never authorize third-party companies like Uber Eats, DoorDash or Grubhub to deliver its sandwiches to its customers. Growing numbers of rival restaurant chains are using outside companies to deliver their food, but Jimmy John’s believes the way to get the quickest, most affordable, and reliable service to its customers is by delivering its own sandwiches.
“We are, faster, fresher, better value, and more consistent at delivery than the third-party services,” said James North, CEO of Jimmy John’s. “We have a relentless focus on the entire process, from the moment we start slicing fresh produce and baking bread at 6 a.m. to the moment we hand a sandwich to a customer. We want to control the experience from the fresh prep to the hand off to the customer.”
The announcement goes against an industry trend in which restaurants are increasingly adopting third party delivery services. The $13 billion third-party food delivery market is projected to grow at a 13.5 percent annual rate. Despite the widespread adoption of third-party delivery services, research conducted by Service Management Group and a study commissioned by Jimmy John’s and conducted by the Boston Consulting Group, found that customers have in fact become increasingly dissatisfied with third-party delivery services.
Thirty-five percent of customers who have used such delivery services say they have experienced a problem with their deliveries. Seventy-six percent hold the restaurant itself at least partially responsible for any errors. Ninety-two percent of customers expect their food deliveries within 15 to 30 minutes of placing an order, while the largest delivery services average 49-minute delivery times.
Jimmy John’s has been delivering high-quality sandwiches quickly, reliably and affordably since opening its first restaurant in 1983. Today, the company along with its franchisees employ approximately 45,000 drivers at over 2,800 locations. For every store, Jimmy John’s limits deliveries to locations no more than five minutes from its restaurants to make sure its sandwiches arrive as fast and as fresh as possible.
“It’s great to get your favorite local restaurant delivered to your door, but at what cost? We want our customers to end up with a perfect sandwich, so we’ll continue to hold ourselves accountable to our own high standards,” North said. “We currently do it better than anyone else and we’re going to continue to improve on that.”
In addition to the announcement, Jimmy John’s is launching a national marketing campaign that will include giant billboards highlighting the delivery promise and a video showcasing tweets from dissatisfied customers of third-party food delivery companies.
North said the company is always looking for ways to improve and innovate within its business model to put its sandwiches and customers first.

Vancouver, B.C. - February 7, 2019 - Youth Fountain has shared a brand new music video in anticipation of their debut full-length album, Letters To Our Former Selves. Letters To Our Former Selves is set to be released on March 8, 2019 via Pure Noise Records and can be pre-ordered now at http://smarturl.it/YFLTOFS.
Guitarist Tyler Zanon shares: "'Helpless / Letters to Our Former Selves' are the two intro tracks that I always felt set the vibe, pacing & overall tone of what album stands for and means to me. 'Helpless' which contains a few simple lyrics; representing yearning of the past - to commemorate on a given situation that one might have ruined and being able to acknowledge it all, but still having that looming desire to turn back time and fix things."
He adds: "The continuation of the title track 'Letters to Our Former Selves' is what I've always felt (lyrically) as a mental note on the person I had been in my early teenage years. I wrote the song when I was 18 as everything was changing & falling apart in life - I thought to re-record it for this album knowing it could fit in with the rest of the songs we had.
As for the concept of the music video - having the 'floating window panes' I always felt tied in nicely with the record, or more specifically these two songs. Hearing & playing them now, I'm sort of able to recollect on the person I was or have been. I like to think the symbolism of a 'window' is an appropriate representation of looking back on things & having that ability of self-reflection."
Youth Fountain is a two piece Emo / Pop Punk band based in Vancouver B.C. Canada featuring members Cody Muraro (Vocals) & Tyler Zanon (Guitar/Vocals). The band has been around since early 2013, starting out as a solo act/musical outlet created by founding member Zanon. After a few years of having potential song ideas and demos tracked, he recruited Muraro to guest on the debut song "Grinding Teeth." The chemistry worked out in a positive manor, so the two decided to undergo the project together moving forward.
Since the official release of the two track EP Grinding Teeth back in May 2017, both members have continued writing, recording & producing new music in anticipation of the release of their full length debut album along side playing a handful of shows across western CanadaThe band released their self-titled Pure Noise Records debut EP in July 2018 and hit the road the following fall, touring the full US and cross Canada in support of the record.
Letters To Our Former Selves, the first full-length from Youth Fountain, will be released on March 8thvia Pure Noise Records and is now available for pre-order at smarturl.it/YFLTOFS.

Creativity, curiosity and critical thinking skills go hand in hand with knowledge, yet art programs which nurture these competencies are continuously being cut from school curriculums across the United States. Agnes Gund’s organization, Studio in a School, has found new ways to provide and enhance art education for young learners. “If we want our children to grow up learning how to learn and how to think, we should be working in the other direction: make the classroom look more like the art studio,” says Christopher Wisniewski, Executive Director of the program. In a new interview with C.M. Rubin, Founder of CMRubinWorld, Wisniewski says Studio’s success is all about “quality”. The organization hires “extraordinary artists” who work to become “great teachers.” In addition, the success of the Studio in a School program is dependent on an open line of communication between the artist instructors and the schools’ principals, classroom teachers, and families. While every student should have access to the arts in their respective schools, Wisniewski believes that the general focus should be on bettering middle school education, where encouraging the use of projects and creativity will enhance their learning capabilities and thinking capacity overall.

Chris Wisniewski is the Executive Director of Studio in a School, an organization founded by Agnes Gund to get around the budget cuts geared towards arts programs in New York City schools by providing training in house for artists to become teachers and lend their combined skill set to these schools. Studio in a School has benefited over 30,000 students across New York City and they plan on sharing their approach on a national scale to benefit even more children and communities.
