February 6, 2019
Dear Parents,
After receiving feedback from community, staff, and students, it has become necessary to put additional safeguards in our parking lot to help with drop off and pick up in our parking lot. We have had children running across the parking lot, cars blocking other cars getting in and out, and the flow of cars slowing down drastically as they wait for cars to move.
Here is how we need your support with the changes:
1-Please follow the directions of our staff in yellow vests. We will have 3-4 individuals out each day to help and they will direct the flow of traffic. To help with this, they may be opening car doors to help students get out quickly. They may direct you to move forward before having your child get out of the car in order to help cars move also forward to lessen gaps between cars.
2-The access to the first row of parking spots closest to the building will have cones placed on the south side in order to eliminate cars using this lane as a drop off/pick up. This will minimize safety issues and cars getting blocked in parking places by cars using it as a drop off/pick up zone. You are welcome to park in those parking places and bring your child into the building.
3-Please do not drop off/pick up in between parking lot spaces. We have children who are running through the parking lot and not watching or being seen by cars dropping off students. You are more than welcome to park in a parking place and walk your student to the sidewalk.
4-Students may also be dropped off in front of the school on 3100 N. Please make sure you drop off students on the north side of street on the sidewalk side. We do not want children running across the street.
5-Above the school on 3200 N is another area for drop off with a sidewalk that accesses the back playground.
Thank you for your support to keep our students safe each day! We will continue to refine the process as we see additional needs.
THESE CHANGES WILL GO INTO EFFECT ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8TH Please see map on back
Bstes Elementary $1 Chocolate Bar Sale
Bates Elementary will be starting a candy bar sale Friday, February 8th. No chocolate will be sent home without your permission. Students can choose to sell a whole box of 60, a half box of 30 or 20 candy bars. Additional candy can be given only after the money for the first box is turned in to the office. Money will be used to increase technology accessibility for all students at Bates Elementary to improve educational outcomes.

Since all children will benefit from our fundraiser, we would appreciate cooperation from everyone. Sell to your friends, neighbors, relatives and co-workers.
