Registration Now Open for Kanab’s Grand to Grand Ultra 2019, a Life-changing Week of Survival Spanning Utah and Arizona, September 22-28

Test your endurance in the most remote place in continental America and see what everyone is talking about!

Kanab, Utah – Endurance Events USA and Kane County Office of Tourism are pleased to announce registration is now open for the eighth edition of the Grand to Grand Ultra, the ultimate self-supported stage footrace happening September 22-28, 2019. The six-stage, seven-day ultra-marathon includes a contiguous course with stages in Utah and Arizona in the USA, covering approximately 170 miles (273 km) between the two states. Sign up now for the legendary feat of endurance and experience running in one of the most remote parts of America.

Grand to Grand Ultra begins at the awe-inspiring north rim of the Grand Canyon, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and finishes on the summit of the Grand Staircase, one of the world’s most iconic geological formations. The course takes participants through the desert landscape of sand dunes, red rock canyons, buttes, mesas and hoodoos found in Kanab, Utah. Racers will navigate numerous slot canyons and cross the inaccessible high desert of the Colorado Plateau in the way of the earliest settlers, Navajo and Paiute Indian tribes, as they climb more than 18,000 feet over the course of the race.

Since the first edition in 2012, competitors have travelled from over 50 countries to take part. Some 150 entrants from 25 countries are expected to race in 2019, making it the most international ultra-marathon race in America. Participants from around the world will be put through an extreme test of survival that includes harsh desert conditions, assuming the responsibility of carrying their own backpacks containing food, sleeping bag, mat and other mandatory equipment for the week.

While pre-qualification is not required, participants will need to prepare for the grueling week-long race with endurance training and informed selection of gear and nutrition. Participants can elect to compete as individuals or teams. Participants are expected to possess basic outdoor survival skills such as familiarity with outdoor gear and backpacking. However, technical navigational or climbing skills are not required to take part in the event.

The event is proud to support two charities: Best Friends Animal Society and the Kane County Children’s Justice Center. Competitors also are raising funds for over 20 different charities.

Registration is now open for 2019. Advance registration is required, and early registration is strongly recommended for this event. Please visit the event website at g2gultra.com for more information and complete registration details. Get updates and follow the event on Facebook.

For information regarding registration, sponsorship or other event-related questions,

About Grand to Grand Ultra

The Grand to Grand Ultra is considered to be one of the world's most iconic multi-stage ultra-marathons and has attracted competitors from more than 50 countries worldwide since the first edition in 2012. It was the unique opportunity to hold a world-class event that would stretch from the Grand Canyon, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, in Arizona to the relatively unknown but equally geologically iconic Grand Staircase in Utah, that settled the location of North America's premier self-supported stage race.

Author Danielle Opitz invites readers to have ‘Moments’ with God

New book guides women to a meaningful experience of the Bible by using the ‘STILL’ scripture study method

THAYNE, Wyo. – Driven with the desire to provide a simple study material that would take readers, especially women, directly to the Scripture in simple yet profound ways, Danielle Opitz decided to pen “Moments” (published by WestBow Press). This encouraging spiritual guidebook invites mothers and daughters to come together in Bible study and actively seek God and faith through journaling, reflection and prayer.

“Moments” is a book designed to be written in and used, not just to be read. Combining her background as an educator for the past 25 years and experience in leading various women’s Bible study gatherings for over 14 years, Opitz gives encouraging and insightful messages for anyone wanting to grow in a relationship with God and better understand his Word.

In this study journal, Opitz uses the STILL (Search, Takeaway, Inquire, Listen and Live) acronym as an easy way to remember the study process. This is to help readers succeed in understanding new or difficult concepts, and guide them into a meaningful experience of Bible study.

“I want readers to become confident in Bible study. I want them to fall in love with God’s Word, recognizing its relevant message, and be motivated to share their love of the Bible with someone else — particularly young women so that generations to come would be equally impacted by this process and the love of scripture as a source of strength and wisdom,”  says the author.

About the Author

Danielle Opitz is a wife, mother, teacher and Bible study leader in the western mountains of Wyoming, where she calls home. With a quick smile and a ready laugh, Opitz is not afraid to be real in her teaching and the personal stories she shares. Through her own experience with Bible study and her background in education, she encourages women in the book, “Moments,” to study their Bibles and listen to the voice of God.

Salt Lake City resident goes to Washington to urge Sen. Mitt Romney & Rep. Chris Stewart to fight global poverty & disease

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City resident, Brent Bowen, will travel to Washington, D.C. later this month to urge Sen. Mitt Romney and Rep. Chris Stewart to support programs that fight global poverty and disease. Over 700 million people globally live in extreme poverty and millions die every year from preventable diseases.

One of the most effective and efficient global health organizations on the planet is the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria. Since 2002, Utah taxpayers have helped support the Global Fund and are responsible for saving roughly 58,000 lives. In 2017 alone, Utah taxpayers helped put roughly 36,000 HIV/AIDS patients on antiretroviral therapy, distribute 412,000 malaria nets, and treat 10,000 people with TB. Later this year, Congress will have to fund the Global Fund ahead of its October replenishment conference in France.

“Now is the time for leaders like Sen. Mitt Romney and Rep. Chris Stewart to stand up, speak out, and maintain the United States’ commitment to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria,” said Brent Bowen of Salt Lake City. “If I could tell Senator Romney and Representative Stewart one thing, it would be that the U.S. must maintain its pledge to fund one-third of the Global Fund this year. We have made significant progress in the global fight against AIDS, but the virus isn’t a disease of the past, it’s a crisis now. Senator Romney and Representative Stewart have the opportunity to carry on the Global Fund’s bipartisan legacy and help save millions of lives. I’m looking forward to going to Washington and talking to Utah’s lawmakers about why it’s important to fully fund the Global Fund and other life-saving global poverty programs.”

The upcoming trip is part of The ONE Campaign’s annual Power Summit, which brings some of the global organization’s most elite volunteers from across the country together in the nation’s capital for cutting-edge training on advocating for the fight against global poverty and preventable diseases. In addition to meeting with their Members of Congress, the three-day summit, which will take place February 24-26, 2019 at Gallaudet University in Washington, will offer attendees the opportunity to hear from some of the political and policy figures who've led the fight against extreme poverty and disease.

“Our nation’s elected leaders need to hear from their constituents about why programs like the Global Fund are such an important part of defeating AIDS and maintaining America’s standing abroad,” said Tom Hart, North America executive director for The ONE Campaign. “The Global Fund has consistently earned the backing of both Republicans and Democrats for its transparent and accountable track record of life-saving results. We hope leaders in Congress will listen to their constituents and continue funding the Global Fund at one-third of its total while also supporting America’s transparent and transformative development programs.”

About The ONE Campaign

ONE is a policy and advocacy organization with millions of people taking action to end extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa. Not politically partisan, ONE was co-founded by U2 lead singer Bono to raise public awareness and press political leaders to combat AIDS and other preventable diseases, increase investments in agriculture and nutrition, and demand greater transparency in poverty-fighting programs.
