Joins HeadCount Board of Directors

New Album Everything Here Out Now

 

February 27, 2019 - Houston, TX - HeadCount, a nonpartisan, non-profit organization that promotes civic participation through music and culture, announced today that Kam Franklin of The Suffers will be joining HeadCount's Board of Directors. 

 

She joins a group that also includes Bob Weir of Dead & Company, John McCrea of CAKE, SiriusXM radio personalities Jonathan Schwartz and Stefanie Scamardo, former Obama White House official Alyssa Mastramonoco, Republican strategist Gordon Hensley, and Marc Brownstein of The Disco Biscuits. 

 

"I'm very pleased to be joining the HeadCount board," said Kam. "I look forward to working alongside some of the most knowledgeable individuals in the music industry to further the HeadCount mission of promoting participation in democracy." 

 

Franklin is the first female musician to join HeadCount's board. 

 

Beyond her work as a singer-songwriter, she is an activist, writer, motivational speaker and actress. Both Forbes and Vice have featured Kam for her activism and business ventures that seek to create an inclusive environment in the arts for females from all backgrounds. Fronting The Suffers, she has performed on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. 

 

"Kam Franklin is a very important addition to our Board of Directors" said Andy Bernstein, HeadCount's co-founder and Executive Director. "I first met Kam on our The Future Is Voting college tour last fall, and knew right away that she could have a tremendous positive impact on our organization." 

 

A national, non-partisan, non-profit, HeadCount can be seen at hundreds of concerts and cultural events each year - registering voter and helping attendees participate in civic life. The organization also has a large online presence, attracting millions of annual visitors to HeadCount.org to register to vote, volunteer or get election information.

 

2018 marked HeadCount's most successful Midterm Election ever, registering over 80,000 voters and deploying at nearly 2,000 events. Partner artists and tours included Beyonce and Jay-Z's OTR II tour, Vans Warped Tour, Drake, Dave Matthews Band and Panic! At The Disco HeadCount also joined forces with brands like Ben & Jerry's, Patagonia and Levi Strauss & Co. as well as the March For Our Lives student movement.

NASHVILLE, TN (February 27, 2019) — Bona fide Country a cappella entertainers HOME FREE are supercharging the last leg of their TIMELESS WORLD TOUR as they head to DEJORIA CENTER in KAMAS, UT, on APRIL 5!

 

Home Free is comprised of Austin Brown [high tenor], Adam Chance [baritone], Tim Foust [bass], Rob Lundquist [tenor], and Adam Rupp [vocal percussion/beatboxer]. Since their latest studio record TIMELESS – #2 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart – premiered in the fall of 2017, the acclaimed quintet will tally over 140 dates total across the massive multi-year trek spanning more than 14 countries.
