We want to thank each and every one of you for the effort you have put forth and the support you have given us this legislative session. Your hard work is paying off. We have accomplished a great deal so far this session, and we could not have made it this far without you.

This is what YOU have accomplished:

  • All but 1 legislators are Cultural Caucus members, meaning they agree with our statement of “I support public investment in the arts and humanities at fiscally responsible levels”
  • 68 legislators have signed our letter in favor of the grant budget increase
  • Over 70 legislators attended our dinner last week, and several of them raved about the event (below is a photo of cultural caucus members standing at the dinner)
  • Advocates at Arts Day on the Hill met with 80 legislators to discuss the importance of arts in their communities

Please continue the conversation with your legislators by sending emails and letters, particularly members of Executive Appropriations Committee (EAC) as they make the final decisions. Members' contact info found here. Please reach out to them in support of this increase. You can find some talking points on the grants increase here

Members will be receiving more advocacy information in your inbox shortly; make sure that your membership is up to date so that you receive all the latest information. UCA membership page

Thank you again for your continued support, for all of your hard work, and for your dedication to arts and humanities in Utah! We would also like to thank the performers and exhibitors that were willing to share their beautiful art and culture with us at our dinner last week!

We will be in DC next week for National Arts and Humanities Day next week, supporting federal legislation on behalf of arts and humanities nationwide. Send us your luck!

Thank you for adding your voice to yours in support of Utah's humanities and arts!

Culturally yours,

Crystal

Los Angeles, CA - February 26, 2019 - Amuse recording artists La Bouquet have shared the new music video for "Sad People Dancing", the most recent single and title track off their debut full length LP. The video debuted with Complex yesterday and can be seen here: https://youtu.be/iTvP7HkfUOA

La Bouquet, is a Los Angeles-based trio consisting of Bryan Sammis (formerly of The Neighbourhood), Jake Lopez and Drew Bruchs. The band craft a sound that siphons bedroom-rattling falsetto through post-punk soundscapes. It's a striking blend that leaves the group existing between three worlds. The group have steadily gained critical acclaim since their inception.

The band will play a show on March 30, 2019, in Santa Barbara, CA @ Velvet Jones to hail the release of the song and their new LP. They are also confirmed to perform at The Hi Hat in LA on April 4th. Additional tour dates will be announced soon.

"Sad People Dancing" follows the 2018 releases of "Names Like Songs" and the Sunshine Sessions collection, which saw La Bouquet experiment with acoustic interpretations of their 2017 EP Heavy Sunshine. Also appearing on Sad People Dancing are "Loveless" and "Loser Baby", both singles featured on KROQ Locals Only.

Sad People Dancing is out March 29, 2019.
