In a new interview with CMRubinWorld, the former principal of renowned Danish high school, Ørestad Gymnasium, says learning environments are shifting to open learning spaces.

NEW YORK (PRWEB) APRIL 15, 2019

Between the 1st and 4th Industrial Revolution, learning became more student-centered. Yet for the most part, school design continues to look the same.

In a new interview with C.M. Rubin, Founder of CMRubinWorld, Allan Kjær Andersen, the former principal of the renowned Danish high school, Ørestad Gymnasium, says it’s critical to re-design classrooms to meet modern learning needs. “The teacher is still the traditional instructor in the classroom,” says Andersen, but “the teacher has the role of a coach or consultant that can give feedback to the group or the individual student.”

Ørestad Gymnasium is renowned for its innovative digitized, media-centered curriculum and open spaced classrooms, which encourage group discussion and allow the students and teachers to engage in modern learning. Andersen believes schools must change with society and recognize the world’s technological advances if they are to prepare the next generation for the future. “Globalization and digitization are essential pulling mechanisms that force schools to change,” he says. “My vision is a school that isn’t really a school but an institutional framework for the organization of learning.”
