Miss Utah has partnered with several local business to give back to a deserving mom and daughter duo for Mother’s Day.

MD Diet, a local Utah weight loss and nutrition company, (more info below my signature), has partnered with several local Utah business to create the first  “Treat your mom like a Queen” contest. The contest was sent to over 70,000 women and posted on MD Diet’s Facebook Page.  The contest for Utah women gained over 600 comments, 178 shares and 32K views.

After choosing between the top 3 finalist who had the most likes, a jury chose a mom and daughter they felt had a moving story. After 3 days of interviewing the finalists, the winners are Nancy (mom) and Nisa (daughter) Ledezma. The Ledezmas’ will get to spend the evening with Miss Utah, Jesse Craig. They will also receive free hair, facial, massage, makeup and nails services. Followed by a fashion show with brand new outfits, where family and friends can see the mom and daughters new look and take photos with Miss Utah.

Utah native Nisa Ledezma nominated her mom Nancy because, Nisa says, “She has worked her entire life, and it’s time for her to get a day off.” Nancy raised Nisa and her four siblings to work hard through her own example, tackling everything from complex car repairs including a transmission all by herself, to home decorating on her own. Nancy married a Mexican man who didn't speak English and she didn't Spanish so together they both read and studied each others' languages. This strong work ethic helped Nisa become the first person in her family to graduate from high school – and then go on to complete a CNA certification. This lifetime of hard work was interrupted five years ago, when Nancy’s husband passed away under tragic circumstances that left the mother of five in serious condition in the hospital. After a long recovery and grief process, the mother and daughter team say that his sudden death brought them closer together as a family. They are looking forward to spending this special evening together.

MAY 8, 2019 - Brooklyn, NY - The KickDrums have shared their latest single "Bubblegum", taken from their forthcoming EP La Playa. Fans can check out the song now via EARMILK and on Spotify

The KickDrums is the recording alias of Brooklyn-based producer/singer/songwriter Alex Fitts. Speaking to the track, Alex said, "With this track I was trying to explore new and different combinations of music for me as a producer/singer," he explained. "At times my music may sound like a band, but it's really just me with a drum machine and some instruments. This song was recorded in a small beach town named Estepona in southern Spain which I think helped lend it a breezy vibe."

Alex's musical lexicon spans a wide array of genres, and he is renowned for his ability to convey a wide range of emotions through the soundscapes he creates. As a producer, Alex has made tracks with the likes of Kid Cudi, 50 Cent, K Flay, Lana Del Rey, Freddie Gibbs, and Slaughterhouse, as well as, completed official remixes for Adele, Kanye West and Linkin Park.

As an artist, The KickDrums have built a cult following through the release of two official albums; Meet Your Ghost (Last Gang Records, 2011) and Thinking Out Loud (Hopeless Records, 2014) and several official mixtapes, as well as the collaborative album Nowhere with Duckwrth.

The KickDrums have shared the stage with revered indie rock acts such as Miike Snow, The Walkmen, Miguel, & Andrew W.K. Alex has also collaborated with such Hip Hop / RnB heavyweights as The RZA, MGK, and SZA, and his music has been featured in several TV shows (Suits, Chuck, Cougar Town, Bloodline, The Wire), the video game SIMS 3 and many more movies & documentaries.
