Representatives from gun manufactures such as Ruger, Browning, Winchester, Remington, Springfield Armory, and many more big-name shooting sports companies will bring the newest in their product lines for community members to try.
June 24, 2019 – Evening of Patriotism! The Perry Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints welcomes all families to come and enjoy a celebration of America. (Stake Center Building located off Highway 89 – between 2200 South and 2300 South) The program will be from 6:30 to 7:30 with refreshments served. No charge. This evening will feature local talent and will include patriotic music throughout the decades, slideshows, video footage, and a feeling of Patriotism and gratitude that will be difficult to erase. The music will range from vocal, piano, brass, and even Dixieland! Mark your calendars for the evening of Monday, June 24th and then be sure to enjoy the Perry 4th of July celebration the following week!
Letter from the Chief of Police & Council Member Watkins - Like a good BBQ or insurance - some investments are just worth it! As we take a moment to slow down or sit down with our children, friends, or grandchildren take time to talk about highway and road safety, so we can avoid stressful or traumatic incidences.
Construction along Highway 89 through Perry (and soon Willard), rain, special events, and of course snow require drivers to slow down. The following three points give strong suggestions of when it is time to slow down and also educate others....
1. Rows of cones and construction work along Highway 89 require leaving for a destination a little earlier, alert eye, and slowing down. Please do not make a U-turn where it is not allowed or advisable. The extra driving may not be convenient, but the results from this construction work and the increased safety are. Please consider cars who are driving behind you and leave a comfortable space between you and the vehicle in front of you. Be extra aware of construction workers, other pedestrians, and rows of cones - the smart phone can and should always wait until the vehicle is turned off. We must operate our vehicles with an attitude of safety. We need to be alert of our surroundings, for the safety of ourselves and those who share the roadway with us.
2. Young people often get a driver permit or license during one season, but always need to be reminded (as do we) that rain, snow, or special events (such as celebrations, peach season, or bike tours) require us to slow down significantly and be alert for those who may not be watching.
3. We must teach those who may consider crossing Highway 89 that patience can save lives. If a vehicle becomes a 'good Samaritan' and stops in the middle of the highway, those who cross must remember that another lane continues to have right-of-way and may not see you. With speeds ranging from 45 to 55 mph, we would do well to be more cautious or take a different mode of transport to get across. Overpasses and underpasses are convenient for only one part of the population and very expensive. Reduced speeds may reduce some problems but present others. At-grade crossings may appear in the future, but our voices, our education, and our clear expectations can save lives. Thank you for your diligence in driving and spreading the word of safety along to your family, neighbors and friends. We look forward to educated communities, alert drivers, and safer roads - three goals in which we can all make a significant difference! Together we can keep the roads in our city safe!

Splash Pad Is Now Open!
Public Works wanted the community to be aware that the splash pad is now open to the public! Location is on the 600 East side of John Adams Park. Water is on from 9AM to 9PM. We hope you enjoy your summer season at the pad!
Watch out for kids on bikes, scooters and varies other toys coming out infront of you while you are driving.
