"Why is it that some people with ADHD grow up to become wild successes? The most important factor for a child with ADHD is having a steadfast cheerleader to tell him or her that s/he is hardworking, intelligent, and a good person.”
— William Dodson, M.D.

Dear Parent,

Your child works so hard every day. Sometimes this pays off in amazing achievements and moments of acceptance, but, on too many days, his or her tremendous efforts end in rejection, impatience, correction from teachers, peers, relatives, and the world at large. You are your child's champion, the one who believes and will never give up — but is your parenting toolbox filled with every available resource?

Join thousands of other parents who turn to ADDitude magazine. Find resources, inspiration, and practical solutions to

  • determine whether your child has ADHD, learning disabilities, or other related conditions
  • understand treatment options and find the right combination of medication and natural treatments to manage symptoms
  • counter the negative messages your child receives every day, and remove the stigma that still surrounds the condition
  • secure 504 or IEP accommodations for your child at school
  • provide productive consequences for defiance and misbehavior
  • create organizational systems that will keep your child and your household on track
  • connect with a community of parents who understand the intense emotions and daily joys and headaches of raising a child with ADHD.

The myth that ADHD is "caused" by poor parenting has long since been disproven (thank goodness!), but did you know that the opposite is true? Informed, deliberate parenting, coupled with an unwavering belief in your child's ability, can improve behavior, emotional control, social skills, and more — now and in the long-term.

Each subscription to ADDitude magazine includes one year of print issues (4 issues + 1 FREE), digital issues to read on your desktop or mobile device in our free app, searchable digital archives, and 3 FREE powerful parenting tools:

MUSIC VIDEO FOR "JELLYFISH"

AUSTRALIA TOUR KICKS OFF NEXT MONTH

TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW

JUNE 17, 2019 - Melbourne, AUS -  Australia's Slowly Slowly have shared the music video for their single "Jellyfish". Following the release of the single, it spent time as the #1 most played on Triple J. Today the four-piece are finally lifting the lid on the music video, and it is every bit as playful and infectious as their adored tune. Fans can watch it here:  https://youtu.be/FQhr8Wa1yKM

Since the release of the single, the band toured alongside Amy Shark, and now have a headlining tour across Australia kicking off next month. Tickets can be purchased here: http://bit.ly/2MSLX0M

Following a goofy, knock-about couple at a bowling alley, the video is a charming, humorous and heartfelt slice of some of Slowly Slowly's best storytelling.

"It came together so easily and we spent the whole day laughing," front man Ben Stewart said. "As soon as we laid the music over the top of the video it immediately brought out the sentimentality of being in love and not giving a fuck what anyone else thinks."

"I think at surface level you hear the Jellyfish line in the chorus and you think 'oh this is a dicky little song about the ocean,'" he continued. "But if you dig a little deeper you realise it's a song about perception and how love looks on a nihilistic backdrop - how we can pull each other out of spiralling inward. I still like the playfulness of the song though and I wanted to keep that in the video."

The inimitable "Jellyfish" marks the first taste of new music from the anthemic punk-rockers since their revered 2018 LP St. Leonards. Seizing the band at their most vulnerable and uninhibited, the track playfully toys with questions on love and existential dread in downright catchy fashion. With Stewart's masterful lyricism front and centre as always, '"Jellyfish" has proven to be both one of the most endearing and commanding tracks of the year.

Joined by Perth punks Sly Withers and Canberra indies Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Slowly Slowly will embark on a now-expanded run of Australian headlining dates celebrating "Jellyfish" throughout July and August.
