The Pure Noise Tour has spotlighted some of the label's most promising talent since their inaugural run in 2012 featuring The Story So Far. Since then, the tour has presented bands like State Champs, Seaway and Boston Manor, among others, and even ventured overseas in 2015 for a 10-date UK stint featuring Four Year Strong.
The 2019 Pure Noise Tour will be yet another memorable one, with Stick To Your Guns, Counterparts, Terror, Year of the Knife and Sanction joining forces for a 30+ date run. "Our last PN tour was 3 years ago and we're excited that this next installment is such a strong one," Pure Noise founder Jake Round explains. "Every band on this tour brings something special to the bill."
"The PN tour is going to be the sickest heavy tour of the summer," says Brendan Murphy, vocalist of Counterparts. "The lineup is insane and I'm glad we were asked to be a part of it so I don't have to sit at home and watch all my friends have fun without me." Similarly, Jesse Barnett, vocalist of Stick To Your Guns, explains, "Heading out on tour with so many great bands and friends is one of the best parts of being in a band, and we are very much looking forward to all of that coming together with this tour."

Utah student places second in national financial literacy essay competition, to be recognized on June 25
SALT LAKE CITY – June 25, 2019 –Treasurer David Damschen today announced that Skyline High School student, Abby Bowler, placed second in the high school division of the national InvestWrite essay competition. The competition tests students’ knowledge of concepts learned while playing The Stock Market Game, such as portfolio construction, capital markets, stocks, bonds and mutual funds.
The spring 2019 InvestWrite prompt for high school students, grades 9-12, focused on sustainable investing and creating a hypothetical ESG (environmental, social and governance) fund that would deliver long-term social and financial returns. Nearly 1,800 essays were submitted in the high school division.
Bowler, a former student in Syd Lott’s financial literacy class at Skyline High School, submitted her essay proposing an investment portfolio to “support refugees and asylum seekers worldwide.” Bowler’s essay took second place in the national high school division and first place in the state high school division. The SIFMA Foundation has specific scoring guidelines for judging the student essays, which can be found here.
“The Stock Market Game and InvestWrite competitions pique student interest in important concepts taught in the classroom by adding an element of competition,” Treasurer Damschen said. “I appreciate the incredible efforts of teachers and students to improve financial knowledge, and I look forward to the opportunity to celebrate their success.”
Treasurer Damschen will present Bowler and Lott with prizes on June 25 at 1:00 p.m. in the Treasurer’s Office at the State Capitol (250 N. State Street, Suite 180). The event is open to the media.

JUNE 25, 2019 - Edinburgh - Scottish pop punks Woes are gearing up for the release of their debut album this week, but first, they are treating fans to new music with the release of title track "Awful Truth" today. "It tells the story of leaving a relationship that has been good in the past, but isn't any more", explains vocalist DJ, "The cathartic feeling of knowing that you've moved on, and you don't want to go back. You're over it, it's in the past, you're done. We've always been really interested, lyrically, in those kind of "two sides of the same coin" kind of stories" Fans can stream "Awful Truth" today at https://youtu.be/Iv8a66ECjek.
"Awful Truth" follows previous singles "Fancy", "Money Shoe" and "Suburbs", all of which have seen support from BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, Kerrang! Radio, Amazing Radio, Rock Sound, idobi Radio and Upset. The singles are pulled from the band's forthcoming debut album Awful Truth, due June 28th on UNFD.

Woes took their own DIY experience and combined it with acclaimed producer Seb Barlow (Neck Deep, WSTR, Roam), in turn creating their most ambitious collection of music to date. The result of that tireless work is Awful Truth, a collection of songs that are genuinely unique. From the sombre heartbreak of Cross and the euphoric swagger pulsing through Money Shoe to the earnest punk-rock energy of Suburbs and the bubblegum pomp of Fancy, the spectrum of moods, styles and sounds crammed into these 10 tracks is gargantuan. Awful Truth is available for pre-order now at https://unfd.lnk.to/AwfulTruth.
Awful Truth follows last year's acclaimed Self Help EP, which launched the four-piece into the eye of rock press (KKKK - Kerrang!, 'Bold' - Rock Sound, 9/10 - Discovered) and landed a hefty touring schedule with highlights including support to Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Neck Deep, State Champs, 2000 Trees, Download and Slam Dunk.
Woes are more than just a one trick pony, taking pop punk to new heights by embracing their love of pop, hip hop and R&B, and using elements from these genres in their sound. "There is definitely a conscious effort to start expanding our sound, to bring in different instruments and elements that we haven't used before,'' says DJ, "We love loads of modern hip-hop and RnB, which is something we plan to explore more in 2019. We also like incorporating math-rock and prog chords and progressions into our instrumentals... But we still want that pop punk energy live".
