New Shakespeare Documentary
Now Available on Hulu and Amazon Prime
NATIONAL - "Nothing is Truer than Truth," the Controversy Films documentary about Shakespeare’s identity, produced and directed by Cheryl Eagan-Donovan, premieres this week on Hulu and Amazon Prime. The film features appearances by award-winning Shakespearean actors, Sir Derek Jacobi and Sir Mark Rylance, as well as acclaimed stage directors Diane Paulus and Tina Packer.
"Nothing is Truer than Truth" focuses on Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford, who traveled to Venice and throughout Italy in 1575-76, discovered commedia dell'arte, and collected the experiences that would become the source material for the works of Shake-Speare. The film argues that De Vere's bisexuality is a prime reason for the use of a pseudonym in writing the famous plays. Filmed in Venice, Verona, Mantua, Padua, and Brenta, Italy, at sites visited by De Vere, which would become the settings for plays such as "The Merchant of Venice," "Othello," "Romeo and Juliet," and "Two Gentlemen of Verona," the film is filled with beautiful scenery and compelling interviews.
Eagan-Donovan is a member of the Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship, an organization committed to shedding light on the Shakespeare Authorship Question. Eagan-Donovan will speak about poetry in Elizabethan London for the SOF Annual Conference at the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, Conn, Oct. 17-20. Associate producer of the film, Ben August, will also speak about his recent purchase of a rare book owned by Edward de Vere, a 1565 Herodotus volume on the Greek and Persian Wars, "Delle Guerre de Greci et de Persi." The book is acknowledged by scholars around the world as a source for Shakespeare’s "Titus Andronicus." For more information about the Shakespeare Authorship conference, visit www.shakespeareoxfordfellowship.org.
"Nothing Is Truer than Truth" has been invited to screen at libraries, universities and conferences in the US and Europe. Recent screenings have been held at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, and the annual De Vere Society meeting in London. A student outreach program accompanying the film, "Shakespeare for Bullies," empowers students to change behavior by sharing their stories in Shakespearean themed workshops and classes. Eagan-Donovan will also represent the SOF at the National Council of Teachers of English conference in Baltimore this November.

Since Labor Day became a national holiday 125 years ago, the United States has seen at least three major transitions of the American worker. From working in the fields and factories to developing the software that now drives the tractor or assembles the machinery, we have technology to thank for this evolution. The expansion of automation and potential of artificial intelligence will continue to impact the job market. What does the future of work look like for students in today’s K-12 education? What skills will they need? It’s time to equip our students for success and to create pathways to careers that are built for the future.

Jim,
General James Mattis, former Defense Secretary, said: “Nations with allies thrive, and those without them wither… Alone, America cannot protect our people and our economy. At this time, we can see storm clouds gathering.”
I agree. I said this in my announcement speech:
America’s greatest power is its power to convene, to bring the peoples and nations of the world together for a common cause that serves us all. That is what America had been doing ever since the world’s greatest generation had returned home from having defeated the horrors of fascism and imperialism in the second of the world wars. And they swore it wouldn’t happen, again, to us, a third time.
They kept their promise by building the liberal world order based upon the rules of individual and human rights, open and fair markets, fair and just governments. It was one that embraced the world’s collective good. Whether Stalinism or human rights atrocities, dire poverty or world recessions, we convened the world by the power of these ideals. By bringing together those that shared these values in multilateral organizations and agreements, and by leading those efforts, we all became stronger, safer, healthier and more prosperous in our freedoms.
