(Port of Los Angeles, CA & Salt Lake City, Utah) – After a day of heavy picketing that caused significant disruptions in operations, truck drivers who haul heavy loads of boron – a mineral mined 300 miles east of Los Angeles that is a critical component in every day consumer products from flatscreen TVs to smartphones – from the Rio Tinto mine in Boron, CA, to America’s largest port complex, are continuing to protest their employer’s persistent unfair labor practices by going on strike at the Port of Los Angeles. With the support of the Teamsters Port Division and Teamsters Local 848, drivers walked off the job early Monday morning to protest unfair and illegal discrimination for aspiring to form a union at their employer, NFI/California Cartage Express (CCX). As picketing continues in California, a delegation of port truck drivers, along with community, labor and faith-based allies from Utah and Los Angeles, will gather at Rio Tinto’s U.S. headquarters and the Rio Tinto Kennecott mine near Salt Lake City. The group will educate the Rio Tinto workforce about the illegal working conditions in Rio Tinto’s California supply chain, and deliver a petition to Rio Tinto’s executive leadership at the company’s South Jordan office urging the global mining company to abide by its own supplier code of conduct.
Shortly after the strike began in Los Angeles, an Administrative Law Judge for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) ruled that owners and managers of California Cartage Warehouse – a sister company of California Cartage Express that is also owned by NFI – are guilty of Unfair Labor Practices, including:
The Judge ordered NFI to mail a notice to all current and former employees detailing its Violations of the National Labor Relations Act and Committing to Cease and Desist from those Violations.

BACKGROUND
NFI/Cal Cartage Express employs their drivers under an illegal scheme whereby they misclassify the workers as independent contractors when in fact they are employees under law. This unlawful practice, which was the subject of an investigative series published by USA Today, leads to massive wage theft and denial of other basic workers’ rights and has been heavily documented across the ports. This illegal practice, in addition to other lawbreaking at NFI Industries, makes NFI/California Cartage Express non-compliant with Rio Tinto’s code of conduct.

How To Make The Mindset Change
That Creates Good Habits — And Success
Achieving success or struggling depends on many factors, but habits go a long way toward determining either outcome, research shows.
Breaking bad habits and cultivating good ones can be difficult, and willpower alone isn’t enough, says Ngan Nguyen (www.nganhnguyen.com), a leadership coach and author of Self-Defined Success: You Already Have Everything It Takes.
“You can’t create the life you want unless you replace bad habits, and that happens by developing a new mindset,” says Nguyen. “These are new thought processes that are linked to your new clarity of vision for your life.
“Usually, some sort of stimuli triggers our habits. Breaking a habit requires changing the action that we take when the stimuli appear. Repeated over and over, these new, more constructive thoughts and resulting positive actions automatically become the new habit.”
Nguyen offers the following tips to transform bad habits into good habits that lead to success.
Clarify your life vision. “Reassessing what we want out of life can provide a more efficient roadmap of goals and how to reach them,” Nguyen says. “Translate your longings and discontents into an actionable, crystallized vision that propels you forward. If you feel stuck, a powerful vision that’s in alignment with your core values is the most critical first step in liberating yourself and creating the results you want. Good habits flow from an energizing new life vision.”
Don’t let doubt or worry hold you back. “Distinguish between believing if you deserve to live your dream life, and whether or not it is possible,” Nguyen says. “You don’t want to talk yourself out of the vision you have crafted for your life based on whether or not you think it is possible. It is absolutely possible, because if you can imagine the outcome, then there is a way. Knowing that, your new habits stay consistent.”
Replace negative beliefs with positive, empowering thoughts. Nguyen says habits that hinder success often stem from negative thoughts. Some common ones are beliefs about ourselves, other people, money, and success. “People think, ‘I’m not good enough, not smart enough,’ or, ‘Other people will deceive me,’ and, ‘Money is scarce and hard to earn,’ ” Nguyen says. “Changing our beliefs to positive is what will allow us to access ideas and allow new positive perception to enter our consciousness. If we recognize that a thought doesn’t serve us, then we can choose to think differently when a stimulus to think negatively occurs. Over time, it becomes easier to think differently because new neural pathways are strengthened with our persistence.”
Analyze your stories. “Stories are how we live our lives,” Nguyen says. “The way we each live is guided by our beliefs, habits, values and emotions. It becomes destructive when patterns repeat in our lives that we do not desire, like always having problems with money or the inability to have a fulfilling relationship. If similar patterns play out that we do not like, we can identify what the underlying belief is by taking an objective look at the story.”
“It is when your beliefs, thoughts, and emotions completely align with the person who is living their new, clarified vision that the life they want becomes possible,” Nguyen says. “New, good habits become second nature, and while success is never automatic, good habits make it far more likely.”

Picking up from where the video for previous single "Hole In Me" cuts off, the "If Only" video follows the protagonist as he struggles to retaliate against the powers that control him. Much like the tone of Hyperdaze as a whole - described by lead vocalist Jack Bergin as seeping with "pure hatred, self-loathing and nihilism" - this is not a video with a positive outcome, and ultimately ends with the acceptance of failure.
Though musically "If Only" marks one of the lighter moments on Hyperdaze, it certainly hasn't been spared in the way of bleak themes and lyrics (see the lines like "don't pity me, I'm dead already" and "this overwhelming misfortune, let it consume you, let this destroy you, now we're all doomed").
On the creation of the track and accompanying video concept, Bergin explains that it pieced together effortlessly. "James (McKendrick, guitar/vocals) put forward the rough draft to us with one line/melody of 'just let me drown' and I loved it. I based the rest of the song's lyrics off that phrase and we went from there," he explains.
"I wanted to reflect in the video the feeling of hopelessness that flooded my brain when putting the initial thoughts of this song down, where I had come to terms with the fact I was losing myself through those around me who were already lost."
Chaotic, clever and cathartic, Hyperdaze drops in full this Friday September 13 via UNFD. Atop the release, Void Of Vision will thrash stages in Australia, Europe and the UK in support of Northlane, and take to Heaven And Hell Festival this weekend alongside the likes of The Amity Affliction, Crossfaith, Underoath, Make Them Suffer, and Trophy Eyes.
