Congressman Rob Bishop
Congressman Rob Bishop is running for re-election as the Congressional Representative of Utah's First District. Mr. Bishop has served as Northern Utah's representative in Washington, D.C. for 12 years and currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Natural Resources Committee and as the Chairman of the Public Lands and Environmental Regulations Subcommittee.
During the September 23rd debate hosted at Weber State University, he revealed that “seventy percent of Utah is owned by the federal government. That’s significant.”
Mr. Bishop’s biggest focus is fighting for Utah’s right to control, govern, and develop this federally-controlled land. “It’s an issue of who actually decides—someone who lives here or someone who lives in Washington. I choose the person who lives here," he said.

Donna McAleer
Donna McAleer is a graduate of West Point, served in the U.S. Army during the Cold War and is a former member of the Defense Advisory Council for Women in the Service. Ms. McAleer is a successful defense attorney in Summit County and a former bobsled Olympic hopeful, coming in 4th in the 2002 Olympic trials.
She believes some of the most important issues facing Utah voters are energy development, public lands, health care, and Congressional reform. She believes that politics shouldn't be a career path.
During the Sept 23rd debate against Representative Bishop, Ms. McAleer stated, “We’ve had 12 years of Representative Bishop in the House. It’s time to give this guardian of gridlock a well-deserved retirement, and put somebody in there who’s actually had to deliver results.” She hopes to be the representative that hears the needs of the voters, to speak up and fight on their behalf, and work on the issues that are most important to Utah.
