Pleasant View - Weber High’s drama class will be performing Rodgers & Hammerstein's Broadway musical “Oklahoma,” a love story set in a Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the century. Drama teacher Mark Daniels is excited to see his students take on the iconic musical because he feels it has set the standard and rules for which all other musicals still follow today. “I want my students to take away from this experience a sense of self-worth, a heightened self-esteem, and the knowledge that they were part of a great team experience where it took every last member of the cast to make it a successful show,” he said. “I want them to grow in the knowledge that they were a part of something wonderful and it was a success because they worked hard and worked with many others toward a common goal!”
The musical will be performed on November 7, 8, 10, 13, 14, 15, and 17 at Weber High School and will feature a cast of 132 students, as well as, an orchestra of 21 musicians and a stage crew of 22 students. Tickets can be purchased at whs.wsd.net. “If you haven’t yet seen the talent of the kids in our community, please come see them and support them. You will not be disappointed,” Mr. Daniels said.
