December 4 - Dear Dave

Dear Dave,

My husband and I are self-employed, and we currently pay almost $1,000 a month for health insurance. I’ve heard you talk about the potential for rates to increase as much as 40 to 60 percent next year. Are there other options, such as just saving the money in case of medical emergencies?

Dear Anna,

December 3- Dear Dave

Dear Dave,

My wife and I make a little over $50,000 a year combined, and we’re almost debt-free. Right now, we have $50,000 left on our mortgage and $4,000 in student loans left to pay. We’re both really excited about the future, and we’re thinking about selling our home and moving into a trailer her parents own. On top of this, we’d like to save my wife’s entire salary for five years to buy another, better house. What do you think of this plan?

Dear Travis,

December 2 - Fraud

I do extensive writing and lecturing on the subject of how to avoid Scams, Frauds, Cons and Deceptions. I was talking to a friend who works for a group in the Attorney General’s office of the State of Florida. He was lamenting how the number of reported cases the organization gets involved with has gone down. The decrease coincides with the FBI’s study that only 10-15% of these type crimes are reported. This contrasts with crooks who have substantially stepped up their operations. I attribute it two factors, embarrassment, and don’t know who to contact.

November 28 = Dear Dave

Dear Dave,

We have three preschool grandchildren, and they get tons of stuff for Christmas every year. We’re in really good shape financially and would like to do something for their future this year instead of giving a toy that might get thrown in the corner. Do you have any suggestions?

Valerie
