SALT LAKE CITY (Feb. 25, 2015) – Gov. Gary R. Herbert issued the following statement concerning the news of former Sen. Bob Bennett’s health condition:

 

“I’m very saddened to learn of Sen. Bennett’s condition. Nearly all of us know someone who has battled cancer and we understand the challenge it presents for an individual and his loved ones. The Bob Bennett I know is a fighter and I have every reason to believe he will beat it.”

I wanted to pass on Senator Hatch’s statement of support for Senator Bennett, following his announcement that he is battling pancreatic cancer.

 

Senator Hatch said:

 

“Elaine and I have been praying for Bob, his wife Joyce, and their family as they take up this challenge with love and dedication. Bob is a very good friend and I was deeply saddened to learn the news about his health. I have always admired that he is a fighter and I will do everything I can to support him in this fight.”

The Humane Society of Utah is adding a $3,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the illegal killing of a dog and stolen cow in Iron County. HSU hopes the increased reward assists the Iron County Sheriff’s Department in obtaining information required to identify and charge whoever is responsible for these criminal acts.
