City Council

Bruce Lyon cites his reason for running for election as, “The city has been so kind to my family and I think it's time to give back.”  Bruce expresses a deep love for Perry City. Moving from Salt Lake with his wife thirty years ago was a culture shock. The population at the time was around 900 citizens. The difficulty of moving to such a small town was soon forgotten as the citizens welcomed them, and made them feel at home. “There’s no way we’ll ever leave.” He says.  He hopes to help Perry maintain its community spirit of kindness and love.

As a member of the Perry City Council, Mr. Lyon hopes to show kindness to others, and help them provide for hard times that may come in the future by helping them help themselves.  He feels one of the major issues with the city right now is the city budget, and how it is spent.  The unfulfilled contract with Utopia is a frustration to many citizens, and he intends to set a time limit, and get affordable internet access to every home in Perry.

He feels there are multiple issues to be addressed, and wants to help make sure the City is using what they have to its full potential, before taking on new things. He would also like more citizens to be aware of the City budget.

Mr. Lyon has served on the Board of Adjustments, and as chairman of the Republican committee for District 4. He believes in the caucus system, and considers himself a conservative, with a strong belief in the Constitution. He has held several jobs in leadership positions, and helped make various municipal decisions to help the community. As a business owner, he has seen many hard times, and gained experience through it in handling budgets and making financial decisions.
