Governor orders flags lowered to honor fallen firefighters
SALT LAKE CITY (Oct. 7, 2016) – Gov. Gary R. Herbert has authorized the lowering of the Flag of the United States of America and the Flag of the State of Utah in honor of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service and Fire Prevention Week.
“On this day of reflection, Jeanette and I honor the brave men and women who have fallen in the endeavor to put a stop to tragedy. To the men and women who bravely serve our communities as firefighters we offer our heartfelt thanks. To the families of the fallen, we owe a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid,” Gov. Herbert said.
Flags will be flown at half-staff at all state facilities on Sun., Oct. 9, 2016 only.
