Perry - The Perry Youth City Council has been out volunteering with the annual “Shop With a Cop” that took place on December 13th. After the shopping, the real fun began with the youth mastering their gift-wrapping skills. The youth got into the spirt of the holidays with simple expressions of thanks and simple gifts.
Mayor Cronin joined the youth and agreed with the idea that we need to take the opportunity “to express thanks and give simple gifts to family, friends, and neighbors. It is in this same spirit that I send a note of thanks to the many people who share of their time, wisdom, and skills to help in variety of aspects of operating the City in an efficient manner. The City staff is highly capable and very productive at taking care of the day-to-day needs of the City. There are literally over a 100 Perry residents serving on committees, boards, and as volunteers, i.e. the Planning Commission, the Flood Control Board, the Waste Water Treatment Board, the Special Uses and Appeals Board, the Perry Youth City Council advisors, and Range Safety Officers at the Gun Range, just to name a few. On behalf of the City Council and the residents of Perry, we express thanks and give the gift of gratitude to each person who shares of their resources in their service to the City and its residents. There are so many ways in which each of us can help within our community. By volunteering within the City you will become more involved in the community, help your friends and neighbors, meet interesting people and make new friends, and improve your own skills and abilities. If you are interested in giving the gift of service within our community, please contact the Perry City Office. It is in great part due to the combined contribution of the dedicated staff and the many volunteers that Perry City is the perfect place to call home.”
