Bob Stevenson Pledges to Support Term Limits on Congress

Washington, DC – U.S. Term Limits (USTL), the leader in the non-partisan national movement to limit terms for elected officials, praises 2020 U.S. house candidate for Utah, Bob Stevenson (district 1), for signing the pledge for an amendment to term limit Congress. Previously, candidate Cory Green also signed the pledge. The primary election is scheduled for June 30, 2020.

U.S. Term Limits has the support of nearly 70 pledge signers in Congress. USTL President Philip Blumel commented on Stevenson's and Green's pledges saying, “Bob's and Cory's support of term limits shows that there are individuals who are willing to put self-interest aside to follow the will of the people. America needs a Congress that will be served by citizen legislators, not career politicians.”

The U.S. Term Limits amendment pledge is provided to every announced candidate for federal office. It reads, “I pledge that as a member of Congress, I will cosponsor and vote for the U.S. Term Limits amendment of three (3) House terms and two (2) Senate terms and no longer limit.” The U.S. Term Limits constitutional amendment has been introduced in both the U.S. Senate by Senator Ted Cruz (SJR1) and the U.S. House by Representative Francis Rooney (HJR20).

Blumel noted, “We have seen a dramatic increase in supporters wanting term limits on Congress. More than 82% of Americans have rejected the career politician model and want to replace it with citizen leadership. The way to achieve that goal is through congressional term limits.”

According to a 2018 nationwide poll on term limits conducted by McLaughlin & Associates, term limits enjoy wide bipartisan support. McLaughlin’s analysis states, “Support for term limits is broad and strong across all political, geographic and demographic groups. An overwhelming 82% of voters approve of a constitutional amendment that will place term limits on members of Congress.”

Blumel concluded, “America is in trouble. Our career politicians have let the people down. It is time to return control of our nation to the people. It is time for a constitutional amendment limiting congressional terms.”

The term limits amendment resolutions would require a two-thirds majority in the House and Senate, and ratification by 38 states, in order to become part of the U.S. Constitution.

Congressional term limits is the one bipartisan issue supported by both President Trump and former President Obama.

SALT LAKE CITY (Jan. 7, 2020) — The Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation (OOR) administers three grant programs authorized by the Utah Legislature: the Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant, Recreation Restoration Infrastructure grant, and the Utah Children’s Outdoor Recreation & Education program.

The purposes of the three Utah outdoor recreation grants programs:

  • Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant (UORG) — Helps fund outdoor recreation infrastructure projects that improve recreation amenities for residents as well as attract tourists to the region
  • Recreation Restoration Infrastructure (RRI) grant — Funds restoration or rehabilitation of existing outdoor recreation infrastructure
  • Utah Children’s Outdoor Recreation & Education (UCORE) grant — Funds programming that provides Utah’s youth (ages 6 to 18) with outdoor recreation skill-building and nature-focused, hands-on learning

Applications for UORG and RRI grant cycle will be accepted Jan. 15 to March 20, 2020. Applications for UCORE will be accepted Jan. 15 to Feb. 20, 2020.

“Our office is excited to offer two new grants, the Recreation Restoration Infrastructure grant and Utah Children’s Outdoor Recreation & Education grant,” said Tom Adams, director of the Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation. “UCORE shows the financial support behind the state’s Every Kid Outdoors Initiative, which aims to get kids active and healthy outdoors, while RRI further exemplifies how the state encourages partnerships between local, federal and nonprofit entities to improve and update Utah’s existing outdoor recreation infrastructure.”

Over five years, the Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant awarded funding for 155 outdoor recreation projects. These projects include more than 25 types of outdoor recreation activities throughout the state. The grants provide matching grant funding to local governments and nonprofits to build outdoor recreation infrastructures such as trails, boat ramps and more.

In the 2020 grant cycle, UORG award amounts will range from $1,000 to $150,000, with an additional award amount called the Regional Asset Tier that includes award amounts of up to $500,000 to support larger infrastructure projects.

“From trails connecting parks and neighborhoods in South Salt Lake to the restoration and revitalization of the Price River in Helper, and from rock climbing access above Castle Dale to multi-use trails in St. George, the outdoor recreation grant has improved the quality of life in dozens of cities and towns and for residents and visitors alike,” said Cameron Diehl, executive director of the Utah League of Cities and Towns. “The grant is a great example of levels of government, businesses and residents working together to invest in Utah communities and enhance access for all to the state’s natural beauty.”

Chrome for Android was the Most Popular Web Browser in 2019

Billions of internet users globally are constantly searching for a faster and securer way to get online. According to PreciseSecurity.com research, the leading web browser globally as of December 2019 is Google's Chrome for Android, which hit a 33% market share in the last year.

Asia is the Leading Region in Google Chrome Usage

Throughout the years, Google has firmly placed itself as the dominant player on the web. Besides managing the world’s most used search engine and web browser, the company also owns the most popular email service Gmail, and Google Maps as the most used GPS mapping system globally.

The recent surveys show that Chrome 78.0 was the second most popular browser in 2019, with 23.71 % market share, while Safari iPhone ranked third. Compared by the region, Asia took first place on the global Google Chrome usage list. Chrome for Android, as the most used browser in the area, marked a 44 % market share during the last year. With a 19.79 % share of the market, Chrome 78.0 ranked second, while Safari iPhone was the third most used browser in the Asian market in 2019.

Google Chrome for Android and Chrome 78.0 hold more than 50 % of the European market, as well. Only the North American region ended the year with a slightly different ranking. The statistics show that the most popular North American web browser in 2019 was Chrome 78.0, which marked a 22.67 % market share. The second most used web browser was Safari iPhone, which reported a 1.14 % higher market share than Chrome for Android.

Firefox and Internet Explorer Marked a Huge Decrease in Market Share

The recent surveys show that Internet Explorer and Firefox have experienced massively reduced market share in previous years. One of the reasons for that is the expanding influence of Google Chrome. The other one is increased competition entering the global browser market. The statistics show that Firefox’s market share dropped down to 3.15 % at the end of 2019. The Internet Explorer ended the year with a 1.47 % share in the global web-browser market.
