OFFICIAL MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION
BOX ELDER COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
May 9, 2017 at 12:45 p.m.
Those in attendance at the meeting included Board President Wade Hyde, Vice President Nini
Anderson, Members Nancy Kennedy, Connie Archibald, Bryan Smith, and Karen Cronin,
Lynne Capener was excused, as he was recovering from an operation.
President Hyde welcomed those in attendance and conducted the business of the meeting.
After the prayer, which was offered by Nini Anderson, Bryan Smith led the pledge of
allegiance.
Action Items
Karen Cronin made the motion to move into closed session to discuss the qualifications and
character of the candidates for the position of Superintendent. Bryan Smith seconded the
motion which passed unanimously. An individual roll call revealed all were in favor.
Information/Discussion Items
The finalists Darin Nielsen, Steven E Carlson, Kip Motta, and Rick Woodford were interviewed
and discussed.
Bryan Smith made the motion to move out of closed session. Nini Anderson seconded the
motion, which passed unanimously. An individual roll call was unanimous in the affirmative.
Adjournment
With the announcement that the next meeting will be held on Wednesday May 10, 2017 at the
Box Elder Middle School at 6:30 p.m. with the retirement reception at 6:00 p.m., President
Hyde adjourned the meeting at 8:05 p.m.
