I am waiting to receive a statement from Clint Thacker, Davis County Animal Services director. He needs to pass his statement by Clearfield Police Department and Davis County tonight, but I will send a formal release with his statement as soon as possible tonight or early tomorrow. Davis County Animal Services is investigating every tip they are receiving, which may take some time. They are actively working on the case.
Dr. Frank Ascione suggested that we get a statement from child welfare services since there was a 1-year-old and 4-year-old child in the home. He is concerned with their emotional state after seeing this happen to their pet. I have left a voicemail with the Utah Department of Child & Family Services (DCFS) to see if they have a statement and will include that if I hear back from them. Dr. Ascione also shared contact information for his colleagues at the University of Denver who specialize in risk assessment and abuse. I have forwarded this information to Davis County Animal Services in hopes that they can help profile likely suspects. It is difficult to determine whether or not the number of animal abuse cases has risen over time since the definition of abuse has changed and species involved varies. We feel that more attention has recently been given to animal abuse cases now that it is a third-degree felony for companion animal torture in Utah. We may see more cases reported and covered by the media than previous years, but cannot deduct that more abuse is occurring. Laws vary across the country, however, and with the recent FBI tracking of animal abuse as a separate criminal category, we expect to see more accurate tracking in the years to come.

Regretfully, the show was not titled "You Are Going To Date This" but it was followed quickly by a 2700-seat sellout for the band's 2nd annual You Are Going To Hate This Fest in San Diego which firmly cemented the band's status as one of the most thrilling and loveable bands to emerge from the west coast in ages.

Bank of Utah is Offering $7,500 Grants to First-Time Home Buyers
Home$tart Grants are available for a limited time.
OGDEN, Utah, March 13, 2017 – Bank of Utah branches and mortgage loan offices throughout Utah are offering grants up to $7,500 to help low-income, first-time home buyers get into homes. The local bank is one of a few financial institutions in the state that has access to grant money from the Home$tart Program through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines. The “free money” is available on a first-come, first-served basis for a limited time.
Home$tart grants may be used for down payments or closing costs of an owner-occupied housing unit, including condominiums. Grants can also be used in combination with funds from other sources. Applicants must intend to live in the home for five years or they will receive a pro-rated allocation. To qualify, homebuyers must earn at least 20 percent less than the local median income (adjusted for family size), in addition to other eligibility factors.
