Two young men from Box Elder High have been selected as new members of the Utah All-State Orchestra. Caleb Thomson, a senior at BEHS is a clarinetist, and Chase Ferry, a junior at BEHS is a cellist. They joined over 200 high school instrumentalists from the state, to participate in the All-State Orchestra, which is sponsored by Utah Music Educators Association. Utah's largest organization of public and private music teachers dedicated to promoting excellence in music teaching and music performance.
Chase, is the son of Ben and Meg Ferry, said “All-State Orchestra was amazing. The musical selections we performed this year were challenging yet fun and exhilarating to play.” Performing at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City was a dream of every instrumentalists.
Caleb, is the son of Jay and Trina Thompson, said “I liked playing in the orchestra. It was fun being part of the winds section on clarinet and being alone on my own part. I really enjoyed playing with some of the best musicians in the state.”
Caleb & Chase rehearsed in Salt Lake City for 14 plus hours over a two day period for the concert. Performing works by Glinka, Grieg and Copeland.
