State of Utah, USA Leads Trade Mission to Brazil
Business development trip unites Utah companies with Brazilian counterparts
SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Gov. Gary R. Herbert will lead a trade mission of state business leaders and government officials from Utah to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro Brazil, Nov. 4-11.
While in Brazil, Gov. Herbert will have the opportunity to showcase the state of Utah as a premier global business destination and attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to the state. Utah continues to be a recognized leader in the United States with the second fastest growing economy and the fourth most diverse economy. The U.S. is a global force with a gross domestic product (GDP) of more than $16 trillion and more than 317 million people.
Brazilian business leaders will have the opportunity to learn about Utah’s favorable business climate, well-educated and productive workforce and superb quality of life. The state is consistently recognized as one of the best states for business and careers, which can be attributed to the the numerous domestic and international business that are established in or relocate to Utah.
The trade mission will also highlight Utah’s thriving tourism industry. Gov. Herbert and the Utah Office of Tourism will address press officials and tour operators to discuss the unsurpassed tourism opportunities in Utah. Easily accessed from the Salt Lake City International Airport, attractions include Utah’s “Greatest Snow on Earth,” the Sundance Film Festival and the Mighty 5 (Utah’s five iconic national parks). Brazilian tourists currently make up a large portion of Utah’s international visitors.
“Business relationships must be bi-lateral to have any sort of permanence,” said Brett Heimburger, director of international trade in the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED). “This mission shows our commitment to further expand our relationship with Brazil.”
Utah business leader, Honorary Consul to Brazil (USA), and Utah Brazil Advisory Committee member Gary Neeleman will visit Sao Paulo to pave the way for the upcoming business delegation.
