Mueller vs. Trump
It’s being billed as the “Fight of the Century”. This century. The gloves are on, or off, depending on how you look at it. It’s Frazier vs. Ali, the Thrilla in Manila ..it’s Mike Tyson biting off Evander Holyfield’s ear ..it’s Muhammad Ali vs. Sonny Liston ...and we’ve all got front row seats in the comfort of our living room. No pay-per-view here. Don King eat your heart out!
After all other contenders have failed ...candidates, congress, business associates, adversaries, wives and girlfriends alike, Special Counsel Robert Mueller was called to challenge the current heavyweight champ and still President of the United States, Donald “Goldfinger” Trump.
Trump, the jabbing loudmouth braggadocio from the Borough of Queens, New York, in red, white and blue trunks, weighing in at a loathsome 250 lbs. at 6 ft. 2 in., is a draft dodger and real estate developer who inherited his fortune from his father and grandmother. Trump’s left jab feigns, his right is weak. He’s slow for his 72 years. How he has won and retained the title is a question mark and ongoing subject of debate, not to mention national security.
Mueller, “The Technician” hailing from Manhattan, in bronze & purple trunks, the quiet, poker face ex-Marine officer and winner of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart in Vietnam, and former FBI Director, at 5 ft. 11 in., weighs in at lithe 161 lbs. He’s quick at 72, he’s smart ...he’s deadly with a strong right and connects with a solid left.
Muller is no Rocky, however. He’s a pro, a technician, who knows what he’s doing and how to win a fight, and Trump knows this. Trump’s running scared. He’s losing his cool, as if he had any, and he’s begun calling out Mueller by name. That’s a signal, he’s becoming agitated. He knows he losing. He’s got something to hide, a lot to hide, and Mueller will punch it out of him. Trump will never hear the ref count ten.
Mueller is using Muhammad Ali’s famous Rope-a-Dope strategy. He’ll let Trump pin him to the ropes, jabbing, bragging and punching until Trump wears himself out. Then, Muller, with reserved strength and power to spare, will come out for the kill ...floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee.
The Russia collusion/election 2016 allegations probe is just the tip of the Trump iceberg. The sex allegations are an interesting and deplorable aside. His past business dealings are questionable to say the least. His flippant, erratic behavior. His arrogance and his lavish lifestyle are who he is. Kushner and Ivanka get dishonorable mention as well. The sons. Melania. His other wives. Poor Tiffany. Trump’s stormy choices and his self-centered narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) all combine to paint a portrait of a man who should have never become President of the United States.
The bigger fly in the ointment, however, is us ...We the People who elected him! It doesn’t say much about us (actually a lot) or our compromised, misinterpreted, malleable system.
Trump is a metaphor for what has happened to America, what We the People have done to America. We, the media saturated, entertainment obsessed, cake-eating American people. We’re like the crowd at a prize fight, or better, more like the fans at a wrestling match. If you don’t consider yourself one of these, then you better pretty damn well figure out how to separate yourself from the fray and either try to bring some sense to solving the problem by more actively participating in the system at hand through informed voting, or try to change the system.
This is a problem that will persist. The good thing about Donald Trump is that he is a wake-up call. He’s the perfect storm and poster boy for what can happen to a society that has lost it’s way, possibly its collective mind. We all didn’t vote for Trump, but enough Americans did to elect him. Hillary may not have been any better as a leader, or Bernie, but in retrospect, possibly more palatable as an executive officer. Possibly not and that’s the problem, isn’t it? Our choices are disappointing, our enthusiasm is limited, our resolve is dwindling.
It’s all coming down to the final round. Trump will have to reach down deep into his very soul to find the courage, the strength, the stamina ...the integrity, to beat Mueller. He’ll find that there’s nothing there. He’s an empty shell. He’s finished. He'll need a good cutman.
My money’s on Mueller, a knock out.
