Christmas Message

During the holiday season, it is often very easy to become preoccupied with how many presents we are buying for our loved ones or what gifts we want for ourselves. It is in this busy time that we must remember that Christmas is not only about giving and receiving material things. It is about giving our time, our service, and our wishes of goodwill to those around us.

We live in a state where giving is second nature, and service is a part of who we are. This year the Utah Republican Party collected toys for the Toys for Tots program. It warms my heart knowing that many children will have a gift under the tree and a smile on their face on Christmas morning. I have also watched many of our elected officials give generously to our communities - taking time away from their busy schedules and families to help those in need. May we look to them as examples of selflessness and philanthropy.

As we come to the close of another year, let us reflect on our own giving spirit. I encourage each of you to call a friend who may not have the abundance of family, check in on an elderly neighbor, or say thank you to our service men, women, and first responders. The simple act of remembering someone else in need may be the most meaningful gift they receive all year. On behalf of the Utah Republican Party staff, and officers, I want to extend to each of you a very blessed, and Merry Christmas.

Sincerely,

James M. Evans
Chairman,
Utah Republican Party
