Mark Lambert debuts with thrilling tale

After being” Harassed” by old friend, main character’s life takes unexpected turn

CLEARFIELD, Utah – Mark Lambert fulfills his desire to publish a book with the release of a thrilling tale that examines the danger of not knowing both ends of a bargain. “Harassed” (published by Xlibris) tells the story of one teen who made a pact with the devil and realized too late the consequences of his decisions. It then examines the effects of his actions on the people who he once referred to as friends.

Alex Benson is innocently playing basketball outside of his home when an old friend comes by and ridicules or harasses him. Alex finds that this is only the beginning. Soon this friend begins tormenting his mother and his best friend. They fail to rid themselves of the teenage friend, and it soon becomes evident that the seemingly innocent ridiculing is something much more. The three victims are caught up in something otherworldly that has the potential of taking over the city and even the world eventually.

“Harassed” is an examination of the individual struggles everyone faces and highlights the positive things that can happen even in the face of adversity. Varied themes such as family, friendship and romance make the book a platform that can cater to different reading demographic.

An excerpt from the book:

He hadn’t realized the full extent of the ‘pact.’ He had just jumped in to the deal. When he could discern what was going to take place he had immediately wanted nothing to do with it. But Legion had said in no uncertain terms that it was too late.

Humana Offers Telemedicine Technology Benefit in Medicare Advantage Plans Available in Utah

Service provides 24/7 access to doctors through a relationship with MDLIVE

SALT LAKE CITY – Oct. 25, 2016 To better meet members’ needs and expand access to care, Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), a leading health and well-being company, is teaming up with MDLIVE, a leading telemedicine services and software provider, to provide Humana Medicare beneficiaries virtual access to doctors in select Utah counties.

Humana is including the telemedicine benefit on certain Medicare Advantage plans offered for the 2017 plan year.  Members who choose plans with this benefit can access doctors through personal computers, telephone or mobile devices for a wide range of non-emergency medical conditions, such as cold and flu, headaches and skin infections, with an applicable co-pay for each visit.

Telemedicine can be beneficial for people who might need to see a doctor outside of their primary care physicians’ office hours, such as on the weekend or evenings, or when they are traveling. It can also be beneficial for those who may not have access to transportation or become unable to drive when ill. MDLIVE’s network of board-certified physicians consistently achieves high patient satisfaction scores. Telemedicine should not be used for emergency situations or chronic conditions, such as diabetes or heart disease, and does not replace an in-person visit with a primary care physician or other provider.   Limitations on healthcare and prescription services delivered via telemedicine vary by state.

With the member’s consent, Humana utilizes its clinical data technology to ensure individual health records are available to MDLIVE medical professionals and the MDLIVE clinician’s prescribed treatment is shared with the member’s primary care physician.

The telemedicine benefit is offered on Humana HMO plans available in Davis, Salt Lake, Utah and Weber counties, as well as Local PPO (LPPO) plans available in Davis Salt Lake and Weber counties.

People with Medicare may select these plans during the annual Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plan enrollment period, which runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, 2016. Those selecting a plan with this option will be able to start using the benefit Jan. 1, 2017.

Since introducing the benefit on some Medicare Advantage plans in 2016, 90 percent of Humana members who used the service and took the post-care survey ranked their experience as either good or excellent.

“With on-demand services playing a big role in people’s lives today, it’s important that we offer our members access to on-demand care to help reduce some of the primary barriers that prevent people from getting medical care,” said Catherine Field, Intermountain Vice President for Humana’s Senior Products. “Video and telephonic visits allow our members to receive health care when and where they need it so we can help them achieve their optimal health. For Medicare beneficiaries, getting care when it’s needed may be able to help reduce hospitalizations and emergency room visits.”

Utah Medicare beneficiaries living in Davis, Salt Lake, Utah and Weber counties who are interested in utilizing MDLIVE should visit www.Humana-Medicare.com to research these plans and learn more about this and other plan benefits.

State, Local Experts Discuss Tennessee Education Programs at Maury County Forum

Renowned education minds and local leaders outlined ways students can capitalize on Tennessee Promise

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Maury County students, parents, educators and community members learned how to take advantage of Tennessee’s groundbreaking education initiatives at a panel forum Tuesday at Puckett’s Grocery in Columbia.

The event, entitled “Unlocking the Keys to Student Success: Opening the Door to Opportunity,” explored ways students can capitalize on the Tennessee Promise program and outlined what community members can do to help students along the path to success, with emphasis on the tnAchieves program. Tennessee Promise – a last-dollar scholarship program – and tnAchieves – a mentorship initiative – are revolutionary systems designed to increase in-state community college enrollment and improve academic achievement.

Columbia Daily Herald Editor James Bennett moderated the event, and Tennessee Commissioner of Economic and Community Development Randy Boyd gave the opening speech and served on the panel.

“The thing that differentiates a community a business chooses is the talent – can I get the workers I need,” Boyd said. “Tennessee Promise makes sure we have a higher-educated workforce.”

Boyd and tnAchieves Director of College Access Amanda Bolden joined local panelists, including Columbia State Community College President Dr. Janet Smith, Maury County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Chris Marczak and Maury County Chamber and Economic Alliance President Wil Evans, whose organization hosted the event.

“Tennessee Promise is the most valuable workforce development tool we have right now,” Evans said. “The job market is much more competitive now, and that is going to result in an increase in wages.”

“Any time we increase someone’s education, it’s about improving the life of that person,” said Smith. “I think both programs have said to Tennesseans that education is important.”

Students who attended the event received an additional entry into the Strive to Drive program, a contest offered by Columbia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram that gives a free car to a random high-achieving Maury County student every year. More than that, however, they learned about ways to transform their lives using the vehicle of Tennessee Promise.

“It has changed the college-going culture in this state,” said Bolden. “In one year, our college-going rate increased by more than the last seven years combined. On a national level, it has brought Tennessee to the top of the conversation.”

“Seeing my niece, a first-generation college graduate, be part of Tennessee Achieves – to see that financial burden lifted off her so she could focus on her goal resonated with me,” said Spring Hill Middle School Principal Shanda Sparrow.

The panel’s conclusion: Tennessee’s tools for student achievement are more accessible than ever.

“Education is the key to success, and this program tells every student that they can get higher education no matter what,” said Columbia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Owner Eddie Collier. “People are amazed that Tennessee is that far ahead of the rest of the country when it comes to free college education.”

“I am watching an entire community rally around the idea of hope,” said Mount Pleasant High School Principal Dr. Ryan Jackson. “We’re breaking down barriers and giving unfiltered access to education.”
