The market brought 100 jobs to the Spanish Fork community!
For the Saturday celebration, customers will enjoy hot dogs, pizza, activities for kids and customer giveaways.
The newest Neighborhood Market brings online grocery pickup which allows customers to select from up to 40,000 online grocery items and choose the best time to pick their items up. A Walmart personal shopper loads the groceries into the customer’s car upon arrival – at no additional cost.
In addition, this store is a new prototype Neighborhood Market that only exists in a limited number of communities, featuring wider aisles and lower counter tops in the deli and bakery for easy ordering. A drive-thru pharmacy offers customers an option of picking up prescriptions without leaving their car.

October 27th, 2017 - Los Angeles, CA - The Used has officially released their new album The Canyon today. Produced by Ross Robinson (The Cure, At The Drive In), this 17-track album was recorded entirely on tape, with no more than 3 takes being used on each song. On the new record, Billboard shares "The Canyon details loss with beautiful universality, layers of dense literary lyricism built to leave its listener searching for particular truths." Fans can purchase the album now in stores, on Apple Music, iTunes or streaming on Spotify.
Written out of pain and loss, The Canyon is tragic and haunting while also having a sense of light and energy that is unlike anything this band has put forward. While keeping the heavy hitting melodies and gut wrenching lyrics that The Used is known for, this is the most visceral and personal piece of art the band has ever released.
Over the last 15 years The Used have released a collection of albums that have shaped the space of the alternative rock scene. High energy live shows, gut wrenching relatable lyrics, and melodies that blended pop sensibility and hard rock creating the perfect combination to make an everlasting impression on fans globally. The band put everything into writing and recording The Canyon and from start to finish you are submerged into an inescapable visceral universe and McCracken leaves us with, "That's what this record is - it's a moment of silence for what's real."

Submissions open for the 2018 Utah Clean Air Chapbook: Breathing Stories
For those who live in Utah, it’s no secret that our state ranks among the worst for air quality. Environmental groups, moms, doctors, activists, and concerned residents of Utah have tirelessly advocated for clean air for years. To build on this important work, Torrey House Press is partnering with local clean air groups to create an art-as-advocacy chapbook called Breathing Stories: Utah Voices for Clean Air. Utah officials know the statistics on our polluted air, but to fully emphasize the gravity of the problem, we need your story. We will deliver the chapbook to every member of the Utah State Legislature and relevant city and county councilmembers, and will use your words to inspire and empower our community to act for clean air.
Learn more about the project and submit your story by November 27th.

“I didn’t want to become that 'token' Native, speaking on panels because I’m a minority, a woman, but I also didn’t want to pass on opportunities that would otherwise be filled by white, European men.” — Kayla
“By grounding myself in who I am, where I come from, and all of the people who have helped me get where I am today, I will do everything I can to advocate for demands that protect and amplify underrepresented voices, which I can only represent through my limited shared experiences.” — Michael
Please consider a gift to Torrey House Press in your end-of-year giving. We depend on readers like you to help us publish books that make a difference in conservation.

OCTOBER'S NEWS AND EVENTS
The Mountains and Plains Independent Booksellers Association 2017 Fall Discovery Show was a huge success—and so much fun! On October 12th, Chip Ward (left) signed copies of his upcoming book Stony Mesa Sagas for excited booksellers. On October 13th, Scott Graham (far right) signed galleys of Yosemite Fall, the fourth in his National Park Mystery series. On the afternoon of October 14th, Scott Graham and Stephen Trimble (right left) chatted with booksellers at the Books and Brews luncheon. Later that night, Regina Lopez-Whiteskunk (middle left), Stephen Trimble, and Kirsten Johanna Allen (middle right) appeared at the BookBar for a critical discussion of national monuments and how Red Rock Stories sheds light on controversies surrounding sacred landscapes.
Read the Publishers Weekly article "Record Turnout for Energized MPIBA 2017 Trade Show."
On October 25th, Kirsten Johanna Allen moderated a powerful conversation with Jacqueline Keeler (left) and Heid Erdrich (middle) at Utah Valley University. On October 26th, Keeler and Erdrich were joined by Lyle Balenquah (right) at a discussion at Southern Utah University. They discussed Edge of Morning, the sacredness of land, and Native sovereignty, with readings from the book and a session of questions and discussion with the audience.
This month Rachel Davis became our new Production and Community Relations Manager!
Rachel grew up in West Jordan, UT, where she still lives with three cats. From a young age, annual trips to Goblin Valley, Moab, and Washington Lake stoked her love of Utah’s land and an addiction to seeing the Milky Way. She recently earned her BA in English from the University of Utah and completed the University of Denver Publishing Institute. In her free time she can be found watching horror flicks, reading poetry and mysteries, or taking in the horizon that frames a cloud-filled sky.
As of November 1st, Torrey House Press will be relocated to a third-floor office at Impact Hub Salt Lake:
150 State St. #1
Salt Lake City, UT 84111
We're excited about all the opportunities this new space offers. Come say hi!
