Governor to open 100-year-old time capsule from Utah State Capitol
Event kicks off week-long Utah State Capitol centennial celebration
What: Gov. Gary R. Herbert will open a 100-year-old time capsule extracted from the Utah State Capitol cornerstone last week. The event marks the opening of the centennial celebration and will feature Utah centenarians who were alive when the capsule was buried.
Historical records indicate that various articles from Utah newspapers, coins, a copy of Andrew Jenson's Latter-Day Saint Biographical Encyclopedia and a photograph of the original Capitol Commission were included in the capsule.
