Weber County Commissioner, Matt Bell, says prayer can’t hurt. When he asked County Attorney, Dave Wilson, whether prayers are legal, was told by Wilson that prayers are alright. Prayers are offered at the municipal meetings in each of the communities that the Sentinel News covers in Northern Weber County, Southern Box Elder County, and the State Legislature except Weber County. The Promontory Expeditionary Learning Public Charter School in Perry and the Venture Academy Public Charter School in Marriott-Slaterville also allow prayer in school board meetings when the person greeting the attendees chooses to open the meeting by offering a prayer themselves. The Freedom Coalition, a locally based organization said it wishes to commend the Weber County Commissioners for considering beginning their weekly commission meetings with prayer. Abraham Lincoln said: "I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. Commissioner Bell says that the Commission will consider changing their policy so that their Commission meetings start with prayer. He says this will be on the agenda probably during May or June of this year. Weber County Commission meetings are normally open to the public and held at 10:00 a.m. every Tuesday.
