People overemphasize tiny negatives and ignore good news... Those pundits who assert that additional tariffs now will hurt the USA are the same ones who made that claim last year. How has the economy done since Trump implemented tariffs on products from countries that put tariffs on products from the USA? GREAT!!! Unemployment. GDP. Manufacturing jobs. Worker wage increases.
From Forbes for May 31, 2019:
Capitalism.... is moral because a capitalist succeeds by meeting the wants and needs of other people... if they succeed, they might get rich, but we are all better off... Government mistakes, not inherent flaws in free markets, are the root cause of every economic crisis in modern times... The Great Depression... inflation of the 1970s... The crisis of 2008-2009...
High taxes are growth killers... Countries that keep their burden light do better than those that do not... Every time that the US has enacted big tax cuts, its economy has blossomed... Excessive regulations hurt...
Don't blame student debt on free enterprise. Government is the villain... Pell grants and student loans... the more money that colleges collected via these schemes, the more students were charged...
High priced healthcare is not a failure of capitalism. Free markets are the solution, not more government control.... In normal markets, if you make an advance in productivity, competitors will follow suit quickly. But not so in healthcare or higher education... Purdue University... enacted numerous efficiencies... a student today pays less than a student 6 years ago...
Free markets reduce poverty... poverty is plummeting. Over the last 20 years, 1 billion people have escaped abject poverty. Free markets turn scarcity into abundance Today's luxuries into tomorrow's common products.... the handheld cell phone of the early 80s ... today there are billions of cell phones....
Profits are essential. They are moral. Without them, the economy stagnates and regresses... Capital comes from profits... profit is a cost of doing business....
Socialism never works. It always leads to blood, tyranny, and tears, as can be seen today in Venezuela, Cuba, and North Korea... What about the socialism of Scandinavia and Europe? ... elaborate welfare programs... beginning to change... countries like Sweden are scaling back government... cutting taxes... no inheritance tax and allows school choice... capitalism creates the wealth that makes welfare states possible... Europeans are looking at pro-capitalist reforms such as low taxes to gin up their economies...

We just attended a special ceremony to swear in (investiture) 20 of the new 76 federal immigration judges at DoJ headquarters in Washington, DC.
76 net addition to the total number of federal immigration judges will make more than 450 in total. Each is supposed to decide on at least 700 cases a year for a total of more than 300,000 immigration cases that ICE and the border patrol cannot handle on their own.
Since many of those cases are for multiple people (families), then the estimate is that at least 600,000 illegal immigrants will be processed by our federal courts per year to augment those cases not handled by ICE and the border patrol ... so that illegal immigrants will be processed almost within a month of their violating our immigration laws.
In the past, only 10% of asylum requests were granted. If that still holds true, then 540,000 illegal immigrants will be kicked out the country within a month of their violating our immigration laws who would previously have been released into the USA as they waited for asylum hearings for as much as 3 years. That will allow our border agents to keep them locked up until court dates instead of the Obama catch and release scheme.
At the ceremony, the main speaker stated that the objectives of the immigration judges are to:
1. provide relief to those immigrants who are deserving and immediately remove those who are not.
2. help immigrants who provide skills that are needed in the USA.
3. support the immigration laws of the USA.
Each of those newly appointed judges took this oath: "I, ......., do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic,...... so help me God."
Notice that their oath is to the Constitution, not to a world set of laws or to international mandates. Foreigners are not USA citizens and have no rights by our Constitution. Article 6 in the Constitution is the key. Read it. Any laws and/or actions by states that are contrary to the Federal Government are illegal (i.e. Sanctuary cities).
Then notice the last 4 words of the oath: "so help me God."
Little by little, Trump is slamming down on illegal immigration. Obama, W Bush, and Clinton all promised to do it. Trump is actually doing it.
Attorney General Barr Puts An End
To "Catch And Release" Policy Of Pro-Migration Judges
NEW YORK/SAN FRANCISCO, April 16 (Reuters) - The U.S. Attorney General on Tuesday struck down a decision that had allowed some asylum seekers to ask for bond in front of an immigration judge, in a ruling that expands indefinite detention for some migrants who must wait months or years for their cases to be heard.
The first immigration court ruling from President Donald Trump's newly appointed Attorney General William Barr is in keeping with the administration's moves to clamp down on the asylum process as tens of thousands of mostly Central Americans cross into the United States asking for refuge. U.S. immigration courts are overseen by the Justice Department and the Attorney General can rule in cases to set legal precedent.
Barr's ruling is the latest instance of the Trump administration taking a hard line on immigration.
