Governor appoints Neill to the Second District Juvenile Court

 

SALT LAKE CITY (Sept. 3, 2016) – Gov. Gary R. Herbert has appointed Robert Neill as a judge to fill a vacancy on the Second District Juvenile Court.

 

“Rob Neill has a deep appreciation for the law and the role it can play in the lives of families. Rob’s sincere desire to serve and his impressive experience will make him the kind of judge who will change lives and impact families in a positive way.” Gov. Herbert said.

 

Neill has served in various positions within the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s office since Jan., 1998, including assignments as the juvenile court specific Special Victims Prosecutor and the West Jordan Division Unit Chief, and serving most recently as the Screening and Misdemeanor Unit Chief. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Brigham Young University, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Utah.

 

“I am deeply humbled and honored to have been selected by Gov. Herbert to serve the Second District as a Juvenile Court Judge. I look forward to the opportunity to work with the children and families of this exceptional community and executing the duties of this position with hard work, professionalism and integrity,” Neill said.

 

Subject to confirmation by the Utah Senate, Neill will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge J. Mark Andrus.

UTAH SENATE REQUESTS PUBLIC COMMENT ON SECOND DISTRICT JUVENILE COURT NOMINEE

 

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Senate Judicial Confirmation Committee is seeking public comment on Robert Neill, who was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Second District Juvenile Court. 

 

Those who desire to comment should contact Jerry Howe at the Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel, Utah State Capitol Campus, House Building, Suite W210, PO Box 145210, Salt Lake City, Utah 84114-5210, by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. All statements should include the respondent’s name, telephone number, and mailing address.

 

The Senate Judicial Confirmation Committee plans to hold a public hearing, then issue a recommendation to the full senate. If confirmed by the senate, Mr. Neill will fill the vacancy resulting from the retirement of Judge J. Mark Andrus, effective December 1, 2016.

 

 

The Second District Court includes Davis, Morgan, and Weber counties.
