Mayor Karen Cronin has written an open letter:
Thanks to all who have made the “changing of the guard” go so smoothly. I have hit the road running and have my sleeves rolled up, ready to work to serve the good people of this great community. It has been a pleasure working with Jerry Nelson, the previous mayor, and Marci Satterthwaite Parker, previous City council member. I thank them for their many years of service and wish them luck in their future endeavors. We will give them a week or two to enjoy their public service retirement before we get them involved again in some way within the community.
It has been one of my main goals as a City council member and now as mayor to help bring new businesses to Perry in order to provide needed services for our community, to offer employment to our residents, and to help build the tax base for our City. We are on the right road to make that happen! At the January 16th City Council meeting, we had an application for a site plan from a business (yet to be disclosed), which hopes to locate in the Pointe Perry commercial area. It was described as a retail sales establishment of merchandise associated with farming, hobby farming, lawn care, gardening, agriculture, and small animal care.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your mayor and to work to make Perry the perfect place to call home.
Mayor Karen Cronin
