Gov. Herbert statement on UVU President Matthew S. Holland’s call to serve as a mission president for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
SALT LAKE CITY (Nov. 6, 2016) – Gov. Gary R. Herbert issued the following statement following the announcement that Matthew Holland has been called to serve as a mission president for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:
Matt and Paige Holland are wonderful, dedicated people, whom Jeanette and I consider dear friends. Over the last nine years, the Hollands have led Utah Valley University to extraordinary heights. We are grateful for their wholehearted and visionary service in improving higher education here in Utah, and send them our best wishes as they dedicate the next few years of their lives to serving the LDS church.
I look forward to working with the Utah State Board of Regents and the Utah Valley University Board of Trustees to conduct an expedited search for a successor so that new leadership may be in place by summer of 2018.
