DENVER—The United States Senate voted 51-49 to reject a Congressional Review Act resolution to eliminate the Bureau of Land Management’s methane waste rule. Eliminating the rule was a major policy priority for the Trump administration and the oil and gas industry.
Western Senators John McCain (R-AZ), Michael Bennet (D-CO), and Tom Udall (D-NM) were key in defeating the effort, while previously undecided Senators Cory Gardner (R-CO) and Dean Heller (R-NV) voted in favor of moving forward with the repeal. In response, the Center for Western Priorities released the following statement from Executive Director Jennifer Rokala:
“The oil and gas industry tried to buy a win today, but came up short. This vote ensures that less taxpayer-owned natural gas will be wasted, saving all Americans money and giving Westerners cleaner air to breathe.
“Western senators, including Senators McCain, Bennet, and Udall, were key in defeating this misguided attempt. Unfortunately, Senators Gardner and Heller once again proved oil and gas campaign contributions trump the best interests of America’s taxpayers. Today’s vote keeps them at the top of the president’s legislative all-star team.”
Over the course of their careers, Senator Cory Gardner and Senator Dean Heller have accepted more than $1.1 million and $350,000 in donations from the oil and gas industry, respectively.
What can a hundred million dollars in campaign contributions buy oil companies?

Major lobbying groups join Koch-backed effort to allow more natural gas waste on public lands

Author, artist Phyllis P. Miller announces release of second book in art workbook series
SALT LAKE CITY – “Art Ninja: Seeing as an Artist” (published by Archway Publishing) is the second book in the “Art Ninja” series of workbooks that share practical exercises intended to help artists of all ages develop skills and improve their artistic talent. The latest book features lessons designed to help readers draw realistic objects.
“My books strive to inspire people … to come up with their own unique style,” says Miller. “The skills learned within this book … will help (readers) discover their own likes and dislikes … to get (them) to the point where (they) are creating (their) own designs and drawings.”
“Art Ninja” has been designed in a way to appeal to different settings: the exercises are simplified to help readers who want to be self-taught; the book may also be used as a tool for would-be art instructors who are unsure how to go about teaching art techniques.
“Readers of these workbooks will gain confidence in their art skills,” says Miller. “I strive to bring this out of anyone who has a desire.”

liveries and assorted art commissions, David Wiener’s work with Porsche is known
worldwide. The gala is an invitation only event with attendees enjoying fine dining and

technology, nature, sports and other themes, his work offers a unique vision for art
lovers, capturing the beauty within elements of an object that the human eye often
overlooks. Modern, abstract and masterfully executed, each piece of art brings detail to
life in a way that inspires viewers to really focus on the elegance and effort of these
unique details.
“This work has allowed me to take my passion for photography and launch a new art
form. I am able to capture elements within architecture, nature, and technology, using
my vision to express a novel perspective to the viewer, challenging them to realize how
beautiful detail taken out of context can be,” said Wiener.
“David’s art embodies the spirit of Porsche’s new Panamera – a spectacular piece of
engineering and style. David consistently dares to do something innovative or go
somewhere different with his art and his work invites the viewer to do the same. We
often overlook the details, the exquisiteness that goes into producing art – whether a
Porsche or a beautiful image,” said Mike Baich, Manager of Porsche Salt Lake City.

Experimental post-hardcore band Eidola is thrilled to announce that they have premiered their new single "Tetelestai" today via Alternative Press. Fans can stream the song now, here: https://goo.gl/PN9HdW. "Tetelestai" comes from the band's new album To Speak, To Listen which will be released on June 2nd,
2017 via Blue Swan Records and was produced by Dryw Owens (A Lot Like Birds, From Indian Lakes). In support of the upcoming album, Eidola will be hitting the road this spring with Hail The Sun & Capsize. For more information or to pre-order the album, please visit: www.eidola.merchnow.com
On the new track, the band shares:
"The word tetelestai means 'it is finished,' and was historically used to signify the payment of a debt. In this case the song lyrically explores two meanings, the payment of a personal debt owed to another person, and the payment or consolidation of the conceptualized 'greatest debt' of human sin. With Matt and I being raised in different faiths our idea was to facilitate an honest dialogue throughout the lyrics."
Eidola is a five-piece progressive post-hardcore band formed in 2011. After a year of touring on their debut self-released album The Great Glass Elephant in 2012, the band signed on with Blue Swan Records to release Degeneraterra in 2015. With the album receiving acclaim from critics and fans alike, the band embarked on a series of tours with bands like Dance Gavin Dance, CHON, Hail The Sun, and Stolas. Now Eidola is back with their most ambitious and aggressive effort yet, To Speak, To Listen.
