JINGLE BELL RUN RETURNS TO SALT LAKE CITY, DEC 2, 2017
Dr. Aimee Hersh, pediatric rheumatologist at Primary Children’s Hospital and the University of Utah, Brad Miles, (Midway), and Emma Mecham, (14 years old, Lehi), serving as honorees. More than 394,000 adults and 3,000 children in Utah battle arthritis.
Salt Lake City, UT – The 2017 Jingle Bell Run will bring a merry helping of festive holiday cheer to Salt Lake City on Saturday, December 2, 8:00 a.m. at Highland High School located at 2166 S. 1700 E. in Sugarhouse. The 5K run will take place in Sugarhouse Park.
Jingle Bell Run is the nation’s most jolly holiday-themed 5K run. Participants wear their favorite holiday costumes or ugly Christmas sweaters and tie bells to their shoes creating a chorus of jingles as they run or walk through the course.
Starting and ending in the beautifully decorated Highland High School, this year’s Jingle Bell Run will feature a visit from Santa, expanded Elf Village with craft projects, scavenger hunt, photo booth and cookies with Mrs. Claus.

The 2017 Jingle Bell Run Salt Lake City will honor three locals who are fighting to find a cure for arthritis. Arthritis causes slow and painful deterioration of the body’s bones, ligaments, cartilage and tendons. More than 54 million Americans have arthritis (1 in 4 adults), including nearly 400,000 adults and 3,000 kids in Utah. All Jingle Bell Run proceeds will support the Arthritis Foundation’s mission to conquer and cure arthritis.
Emma Mecham, (14 years old, Lehi ) was diagnosed with juvenile polyarticular arthritis. As this year’s youth honoree, Emma wants to use her voice to tell others about her disease. “I’m hopeful that one day we will see a cure,” said Emma.
Dr. Amiee Hersh is this year’s medical honoree. “I am delighted to be the medical honoree representing the amazing team of providers, nurses and research staff who strive to provide exceptional care for our patients with juvenile arthritis and other rheumatic conditions at Primary Children's Hospital.”
Brad Miles (Midway), a real estate developer for Western States Lodging and Development, battled arthritis until recently when it was declared in remission. As this year’s adult honoree, Brad wants to bring more attention to the valuable resources the Arthritis Foundation provides.
