RESPONSE to Ryan Zinke’s postponement of oil and gas lease sales in Montana and New Mexico

DENVER — Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke today announced he is deferring a planned oil and gas lease auction near Livingston, Montana. Today’s postponement comes on the heels of a similar delay near Chaco Culture National Historical Park in New Mexico. The Center for Western Priorities released the following statement from Advocacy Director Jesse Prentice–Dunn:

“Secretary Zinke is once again treating America’s public lands like contestants on a reality show, handing out roses to the places he chooses to save while casting the rest aside. Of course these lease sales should be postponed. But a temporary deferment for lands that should never have been offered at all is hardly worthy of loud applause. Lands at the doorstep of Yellowstone or the gateway to spectacular cultural sites at Chaco should never have been put on the auction block in the first place.”

Secretary Zinke’s announcement follows a pattern he created during his review of national monuments, when he took monuments off the table one at a time, at one point telling his chief of staff to “pick up the speed” in announcing which monuments he was saving.

Zinke is due to testify before Congress this month as part of the budget process. His temporary postponement of lease sales does not preclude the possibility that the Livingston and Chaco auctions could be scheduled again after he testifies.

New Album Out Summer 2018

Quiet World Out Now

via Equal Vision Records

March 5, 2018 - New Jersey rock band Gatherers is thrilled to share their visceral new single "The Floorboards Are Breathing." The track, which was inspired by the 2007 documentary One Minute To Nine, can be streamed now exclusively on Billboard.

"'The Floorboards Are Breathing' was one of the earlier songs we began to play around with when we started writing this record. The lyrics and imagery came about one night after watching a documentary titled "Every Fucking Day of My Life"; a film that  recounts the experiences of a mother and her sons after surviving years of horrifying domestic abuse," recalls Anthony Gesa. "I knew early on that I wanted to write lyrics from the perspective of the walls in their house. It was an effort to explore an idea that felt way more real and human albeit emotionally dreadful. It's one of the ugliest songs on the record, thematically speaking."

The band also recently announced that they would be performing at this year's BLED FEST in Howell, MI on May 26th, alongside Joyce Manor, Basement, Foxing, Norma Jean, Rozwell Kid, Slingshot Dakota, and more. For additional information, please visit: www.gatherersband.com

Gatherers is Matt Popowski, Adam Cichocki, Rich Weinberger, Anthony Gesa, and Rob Talalai. The band announced their signing to Equal Vision Records in March 2015, with the release of a bold new music video for " God Deluxe," from their sophomore full-length Quiet World.

With Quiet World, Gatherers has created a truly unparalleled emotional and cathartic experience, enveloping listeners into a captivating world of anger, intensity, and frustration. Quiet World is the follow up to their first EP, Postcards (2012), and their debut full-length, Caught Between a Rock and a Sad Place (2013), both under the band's original moniker of 'Gatherer.'

Quiet World was released on July 31, 2015, and marked the band's debut with Equal Vision Records. Gatherers finished working on new music at VuDu Studios with Mike Watts (The Dear Hunter, As Tall As Lions, Hopesfall, Tides of Man) last fall, and will be releasing a new record later this year.

HOPELESS RECORDS/SUB CITY TEAM UP WITH

NEW DIRECTIONS FOR YOUTH

TO OPEN THE SUB CITY RECORDING STUDIO

IN NORTH HOLLYWOOD

GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY TO TAKE PLACE ON

MARCH 10th AT 10AM

Los Angeles, CA - The Hopeless Records/Sub City team will be on site for the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sub City Recording Studio, which is part of a new health and recreation center in collaboration with New Directions for Youth, a non-profit that was established in 1975 to provide services and programs to at-risk children and their families.

The label's charity arm, Sub City, was a major donor and helped to make the upcoming center a reality for the city's youth. Their donation helped to fund the creation of the Sub City Recording Studio within the center, where young adults are encouraged to create music of their own and Sub City providing the tools to do so.

"Music has the unique ability to change people's life, to even save their life and to make a positive impact in their life," Louis Posen, President and CEO of Hopeless Records said. "We are so lucky to be able to team up with New Directions for Youth to build the Sub City studios to provide young people in Hopeless' backyard with a music studio environment where they can learn to create music and record music all while learning career and life skills."

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Friday, March 10 at 10 am at the sight of the Health and Recreation center, located at 7315 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91605. Speakers will include Councilman Paul Krekorian, NDY Executive Director Monica Austin Jackson, Louis Posen of Hopeless Records, Tom Neary from PCL, Ashley Stoner from Perkins + Will. KNBC Weathercaster Fritz Coleman will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

For over 43 years, New Directions for Youth has worked diligently to bring about new and continued efforts to create a positive atmosphere for our local at-risk youth. The project represents a unique public/private partnership and a culmination of eight years of planning to create a facility that will serve as Fitness Center, Music Recording Center, Dance Center and Outdoor Sports Center in the North Hollywood.

Sub City was developed in 1999 as a charity arm of Hopeless Records. Their goal is to connect bands and their fans to causes that could make a positive impact through music. In addition to New Directions for Youth, Sub City has partnered with a number of charities, including A Place Called Home, Plea For Peace Foundation, and H.E.A.R. They have received awards and recognition from the following organizations: The 110 US Congress, National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM), Hot Topic Foundation, California Senate, Los Angeles City Council, Billboard Magazine, Alternative Press, Business Week, The Los Angeles Times, and Caring Magazine.

Valet Parking will be available.
