Weber County Board to open with Hindu prayer for 1st time in 168 years
Weber County Board of Commissioners in Ogden will start its day with Hindu mantras on June five, reportedly for the first time since its founding in 1850, containing verses from world’s oldest existing scripture.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed will deliver the invocation from ancient Sanskrit scriptures before the Board. After Sanskrit delivery, he then will read the English interpretation of the prayers. Sanskrit is considered a sacred language in Hinduism and root language of Indo-European languages.
Zed, who is the President of Universal Society of Hinduism, will recite from Rig-Veda, the oldest scripture of the world still in common use; besides lines from Upanishads and Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord), both ancient Hindu scriptures. He plans to start and end each prayer with “Om”, the mystical syllable containing the universe, which in Hinduism is used to introduce and conclude religious work.
Reciting from Brahadaranyakopanishad, Rajan Zed plans to say “Asato ma sad gamaya, Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya, Mrtyor mamrtam gamaya”; which he will then interpret as “Lead us from the unreal to the real, Lead us from darkness to light, and Lead us from death to immortality.” Reciting from Bhagavad-Gita, he proposes to urge Board members and others present to keep the welfare of others always in mind.
Zed will also meet Board Chair James H. “Jim” Harvey before the invocation.
Rajan Zed, a global Hindu and interfaith leader, has been bestowed with World Interfaith Leader Award. Zed is Senior Fellow and Religious Advisor to Foundation for Religious Diplomacy, Spiritual Advisor to National Association of Interchurch & Interfaith Families, on the Advisory Board of The Interfaith Peace Project, etc. He has been panelist for “On Faith”, a prestigious interactive conversation on religion produced by The Washington Post; and leads a weekly interfaith panel “Faith Forum” in a Gannett publication for over seven years.
Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about 1.1 billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal. There are about three million Hindus in USA.

Take Over Vans Warped Tour Socials
Ahead of Appearance on its Final Cross-Country Run
Lexington, KY - March 21, 2018 - Alternative band Picturesque is set to take this summer by storm as part of the 2018 Vans Warped Tour, but first they are taking over the tour's site and socials with their brand new music video "Dead Flowers." Fans can check out the rhythmic and soulful new track now at VansWarpedTour.com.
"Dead Flowers" is the Picturesque's first new song since 2017's debut full-length, Back To Beautiful. It was recorded over the course of three months in various studios in California, Michigan, and the band's home state of Kentucky, with mixing and mastering done by Erik Ron and Chris Atkins. The video was directed by Daniel Wand (Capsize).
The band recently wrapped six weeks on the road with Silverstein and Tonight Alive as part of "The Get Free Tour," and are currently performing throughout Canada with Secrets. For a full list of remaining dates, as well as upcoming shows with the Vans Warped Tour, please see below or visit: www.picturesqueband.com.
Picturesque is Kyle Hollis (vocals), Zach Williamson (guitar), Dylan Forrester (guitar) and Jordan Greenway (bass). The band released their long-awaited debut full-length, Back to Beautiful, on July 14th, 2017 via Equal Vision Records. The album was recorded in Los Angeles, CA with producer Erik Ron (Saosin, Panic! At The Disco).
On Back to Beautiful, Hollis says, "The title Back to Beautiful is referring to the early days of the band where we had all relocated to Houston and I went through a rough break up. We were engaged, and I thought I had life from there on out figured out, but I didn't. It hit me hard mentally and physically. I wasn't my normal self. I wasn't sleeping enough because I kept having the same nightmares over and over and when I was awake I was lost in my own thoughts of why things were the way they were."
He continues: "I felt like I wasn't good enough for anyone, I felt like I was a burden on everyone around me because I was in this rut and I was afraid I would drag everyone around me down into it. This feeling lasted until around the time we finished the record. It was as if I had gotten whatever was making me ill out of my system and my entire demeanor began to reflect the change."
Picturesque is led by the truly stunning vocal range and power of Hollis and is supported by equally notable instrumentations that blend rock, post-hardcore and pop influences. The band has toured and shared stages with the likes of I the Mighty, blessthefall, Like Moths To Flames, Our Last Night, SECRETS, SYLAR, and more.

HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS
Premiere New Track and Music Video
"Just Another Ghost"
Exclusively with Substream Magazine
Upcoming Album
Bad Frequencies
Out on Pure Noise Records
April 27, 2018
"The record is bursting with bittersweet reflection on moments long passed,
as well as a longing for escape that defies the understanding
one cannot escape themselves." - Substream Magazine
March 21st, 2018 - Dayton, OH - Hawthorne Heights is thrilled to premiere a new track and accompanying music video for "Just Another Ghost" with Substream Magazine. Fans can check out the video and accompanying exclusive interview, here. The track is the second single from Bad Frequencies, which is due out April 27th, 2018 via Pure Noise Records and is available for pre-order now at http://smarturl.it/HawthorneHeights.
Singer and Guitarist JT Woodruff shares "Just Another Ghost is a song about floating through life, and the anxiety that comes with the feeling that life is passing you by. One second you are having the time of your life, and the next second you feel all alone. Your mood can go from euphoria to panic, until you eventually feel you aren't even there, or you are invisible."
Directed by Benny Gagliardi, the video features the band performing in two extremely different locations to create the feeling of being in different worlds. On the video, Woodruff continues, "We wanted to have a video that matched that feeling and emotion, which is why we shot in two entirely different locations. We put flyers on the wall at Slidebar from life changing shows that each member of HH personally went to when we were growing up. Then to capture the sadness and loneliness we drove out to Slab City California in a location that was perfectly isolation, like in a dream. We wanted it to look like two entirely different worlds, because that's how life can feel sometimes. Anxiety is powerful, and we wanted to capture that raw feeling."
Bad Frequencies was produced by Hawthorne Heights along with Nick Ingram (Hotel Books, Capital House Studio), and mixed by Cameron Webb (Grammy Winner, NOFX, Social Distortion). The band previously worked with Ingram on the Hurt EP as well as Webb for "Push Me Away" which was released last summer ahead of their full run on the Vans Warped Tour.
