Willard- Willard City welcomes a new police chief. Jean Loveland was hired as the new Chief of Police for Willard City in August. Chief Loveland worked for Brigham City Police Department previously, where she had worked as both a uniformed patrol officer, as well as part of the Box Elder Narcotics Task Force. Chief Loveland, who previously served Willard as mayor, city council member, and as a reserve police officer began her law enforcement career with Box Elder County Sheriff's Department, as an emergency dispatcher, before transferring to Corrections. Chief Loveland fills the void created when former Chief Nate Thompson retired earlier this year.

In August, Willard City Council passed an ownership agreement with Perry City for co-ownership of the sewer system.

Three Willard public officials openly declared conflicts of interest that might exist between their role as a public official, and with their personal businesses. Chief Loveland explained that a small auto shop she owns could potentially present a conflict of interest with official City business; as did Councilwoman Michelle Mund, and Mayor Kenneth Braegger for their businesses, a well-drilling business, and a construction business (respectively).
