Animal advocates lobby Utah lawmakers to protect pets

 

WHAT:          Utah residents participating in Humane Lobby Day 2015 will meet with lawmakers to lobby for better animal welfare laws. Attendees will be supporting two important bills, S.B. 197 to ban gas chambers and S.B. 134 to strengthen penalties for cockfighting in Utah. The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society of Utah are sponsoring Humane Lobby Day.

 

WHEN:          Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015

8 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.: Briefing for attendees and media

10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.:  Humane Lobby Day, appointments with legislators

WHY:             Briefing on legislation to strengthen our current cockfighting laws and ensure the gas chamber is no longer used as a method of euthanizing our companion animals. Utah residents will meet with their state legislators to discuss the importance of these two important animal welfare legislation issues.
