HSU adds $2,000 reward for doe, fawns killed with vehicle
Reward for information leading to arrest in Box Elder County investigation
The Humane Society of Utah is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the illegal killing of two fawns and a pregnant doe in Box Elder County. The HSU hopes the reward assists the Division of Wildlife Resources in obtaining information required to identify and charge whoever is responsible for running the three deer down with a vehicle and leaving them to suffer and die.
According to a DWR news release, conservation officers found the two fawns and a pregnant doe near a grain field on the Long Divide Road in Box Elder County between Fielding and Newton. It is concluded that someone had chased them through the field before running them over with a vehicle.
“This goes beyond poaching,” said Gene Baierschmidt, executive director of the Humane Society of Utah. “This was senseless and intentional animal cruelty that cannot be tolerated in our society.”
