At the April 9 Planning Commission meeting, reviews were given about the 2700 North Specific Area Plan. Available on Pleasant View’s website are links that provide information to the community about what all can be expected to happen with the project. Included in the links are maps about future land usage along 2700 North, as well as maps looking at different concepts to improve mobility and traffic in that area. There will be a joint Planning Commission and City Council meeting for Pleasant View and Farr West residents on May 19 at the Farr West Council Chambers to review more of the plan and for residents to have a chance to see what new information the IBI Group, who is in charge of the plan, has for them. Assistant City Administrator Valerie Claussen also said in an e-mail, “There will be a 4300 North Study completed that is intended to compile the information of the sensitive environmental concerns of this portion of the City (with a focus on water recharge areas and geology/faults). The study will also provide representation of areas that are more suitable for development than perhaps other areas.”
At the March 24 City Council meeting, Councilmember Greenwood mentioned how the pickle ball construction should be done by the end of June and the water well construction should be done in October. The Council also voted to award “the Shady Lane Park irrigation improvements to Ben Lomond Landscaping in the amount of $18,000,” according to the meeting minutes.
At the April 14 City Council meeting, Tony Pitman was sworn in as a new member of the City Council and replaced Councilmember Mel Marker, whose term ended on March 24. The Council discussed a decision about the Chatelain Subdivision. Valerie mentioned that, “The subdivision actually lies in Harrisville City, but lies abutting 2550 North which is Pleasant View City's right-of-way and road. So the discussion was about the timing of the improvements of the road. Council had a concern that a deferral agreement would not be sufficient to assure that the road improvements would be paid. Council directed staff to look at other mechanisms the City could use to ensure that the money for the improvements would be paid.”
A friendly reminder: Founder’s Day is June 27, so make sure to check it out for a fun, family outing.
