Driver’s Ed signups are going on now for 3rd tri  

 

Josten’s will be here during lunch on Thursday, May 3rd. They will be bringing the graduation announcements for seniors. The balance must be paid in full in order to pick up the announcements. Students can call Josten’s with any questions at 801-766-6754.  

 

Prom is on the 19th at Castle Manor in Hyde Park from 8:30-11. The cost is $28 and will include photo booth pictures. 

 

The Blood Drive is on March 23rd.  

 

Talent Show try-outs are tentatively scheduled for March 30 after school.  

 

Mr. Box Elder will be March 23, at 6:30 pm in the auditorium.  You can buy your tickets starting tomorrow at lunch from student government.  The tickets are 2 dollars in advance and 3 dollars at the door the night of the performance!  

 

The University of Utah has 2 summer programs starting in June: a Mathematics Program & a Bioscience Research Program.  Come to the counseling office to get more information and to pick up an application.  

 

Class Changes for 3rd trimester will be held: Wednesday, March 2nd, 3-7pm  Library Thursday, March 10th  3-7pm Library   Cost for a class change is $15.  Some of you may have heard about online class changes.  The system for these changes has not been finalized at this time.  

 

Choir Trip Update   Attached to this email is the emergency medical form for the choir trip----parents and students can open it, print it, and start to get them returned (to Mrs. Bigler)  to prepare for the choir trip.   We need to have one for ALL students, even if their parents are on the trip.   (If there were an emergency, they might not all be in the same place at the same time.   Case in point, we fly out in

ATTENTION ALL SENIORS: YOU MUST pass the Civics Test in order to graduate!  Most seniors will do this in their U.S. Government class.  However, if you did not take U.S. Government this school year, or have not passed the test yet, you need to do so PRIOR to graduation.  The test is on your student portal under “Civics Test”.  You can take it as many times as necessary.  You need to score 70% to pass.  

 

This is the last week to pre-order yearbooks for $41.00.  You can order them online at www.yearbookordercenter.com.  

 

The  school number is 7041.  After March 4th books can be purchased at the school for $51.00.

The regular meetings are the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of each month.  The Interact club meets in Mrs Thompsons room W4.  They will be doing a Literacy Activity at the library March 4, 11, and 18 from 3:30-5:00.  For this activity they do a puppet show, read and play literacy games with K-5 grade students.  Also on March 3rd they will be joining the Rotary club at the Soup Kitchenhelping prepare food, serving and cleaning up.  There will be sign up sheets at the meetings or you can contact Mrs Thompson or one of the officers.  Thanks for all you help in our great  community.  Our Mexico project this year is June 4-11.  There are still openings if you are interested in going, please talk to Mrs Thompson. 

Seniors Looking for Scholarships The Box Elder Education Foundation Scholarships are now available. There are several scholarships that all can apply for and are for Box Elder High School students only. Check the scholarship listing on the high school’s website or come into the counseling office to see what is available and pick up an application. These are very nice scholarships and worth your time. Remember that neatness counts when applying for scholarships and you are encouraged to type the applications.

Calvin & Reva Wiggins Foundation Scholarship: This is a $1,000 scholarship for senior students that will pursue a career in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Engineering all disciplines.

Lowell & Colleen Sherrett Scholarship: $1,000 for a graduating BEHS senior who has been accepted to a 4 year college or university. Must have a 3.0 GPA or better and shows leadership, integrity, kindness, and strength of character. Service, community involvement, and religious involvement are also considered.

Dale C. Young Memorial Scholarship: $3,000 for a BEHS graduate who will be majoring in Education. Must have 3.0 GPA or better, show financial need and not received any other scholarships by time of selection. Leadership, community service and other significant achievements will be considered.

Heber Lynn Orme Scholarship: Two $500 scholarships are available. One for a student who will study Home Economics and one for the area of Agriculture.

Wilding Memorial Scholarship: $500 scholarship awarded to a Box Elder High School senior who has who has shown strength, determination, and courage in overcoming adversity and trial in the face of overwhelming odds. It is named in the memory of Tyson Wilding who showed great resiliency and courage as well as a positive attitude despite the many physical and health struggles he faced during his life

Pursuit of Higher Education Scholarship: This award is for a student that has prepared well to continue their education and has taken AP and Concurrent Enrollment classes, but does not necessarily have outstanding grades or ACT scores. Students that have an ACT higher than 26 will not be considered.

TH Bell Teaching Incentive Loan: This is a loan program through the state of UT with “Loan Forgivness” if you teach in Utah after graduating.

Buick Achievers Scholarship Program:  Students who will study Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Business Administration, Finance, Design, or Marketing and are interested in the automotive or related industry. This is a $2,000-$25,000 scholarship.
