The Utah Solutions Summit is an annual event hosted by Sen. Lee that brings together business and civic leaders to discuss public policy solutions designed to meet our nation's most pressing challenges. Previous Solutions Summits have focused on the “Utah Model” of government and civil-society partnerships as well as reforming the federal regulatory state so that it works for, not against, hardworking Americans and their businesses.
This year the Utah Solutions Summit will focus on how "disruptive innovation” – in government, educational institutions, and the business world – is the key to fostering the collaborative partnerships we need to create a healthy and productive workforce prepared for success.

Hatch Statement on Department of Education’s Announced Early Childhood Education Pay for Success Grant Program
SALT LAKE CITY—Senator Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, issued the following statement following the Department of Education’s announcement of a Pay for Success Early Childhood Education Feasibility Study. The feasibility studies will determine if the Pay for Success model, similar to one currently employed in Utah, is an effective strategy to implement preschool programs that are high quality and yield meaningful results:
“Pay For Success allows the government to pay only for programs that actually achieve meaningful results. My home state of Utah has the first-ever Pay for Success program designed to expand access to early childhood education for at-risk children. The Utah High Quality Preschool Program delivers a high-impact, targeted curriculum that increases school readiness and academic performance among 3 and 4 year olds. Early intervention leads to cost savings later in a child’s education, allowing schools and states to save money. I am pleased the Department of Education is building on this success and empowering other states to do the same.”
Senator Hatch introduced a Pay for Success amendment to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) in July of 2015, which passed in the Senate unanimously. To find out more about Senator Hatch’s amendment and education priorities, click here.
