Parents, FYI: 1. Class meetings were held on the first day of school. Revised Attendance, Dress Code, Sportsmanship, and BeeTime Policies were discussed and distributed along with the Computer Use Agreement. They were then sent home for signatures. If you haven’t already done so, please review, sign, and return these policies to your student’s first hour teacher. The Policies can also be found on our school website www.behs.besd.net . We ask for your support in encouraging your student to follow the guidelines outlined in the policies.
2. Our school will be going through the Accreditation Process this year. Here is an over view of what that means:
What is Accreditation? Accreditation is a method of quality assurance developed more than 100 years ago by American universities and secondary schools. What is the Purpose of Accreditation? To encourage us to reflect on our effectiveness as an academic institution and consider ways to improve, and to qualify our school for licensure in the State of Utah. What is the goal of Accreditation? To evaluate, verify, and improve an institution’s quality and to encourage that institution to engage in continuous improvement.
One of the requirements for the Accreditation Process is to conduct a stakeholder survey to get feedback from parents, students and staff. It is an on-line survey and will take place in October. You will hear more about the survey when it is available.
3. Our teachers were involved in four days of professional development prior to the start of school. On the first day, we made a list of what we consider our purpose here at BEHs. We intend to focus on this list throughout the year as we make instructional and academic decisions. The list is as follows:

2017 Orchestra Tour Meeting – Anaheim, CA When: Wednesday, August, 2016, 6 pm Where: Orchestra/Band Room at BEHS We will discuss the details of the orchestra/band tour to Disneyland, including fundraising information. If you cannot make it to the meeting, please see Mr. Findlay before school or Mr. Reeder during the day to retrieve the information you need. We will be going April 4-8, 2017. If you want to attend tour you must be in TWO TRIMESTERS of orchestra/band this year, and you must have NO U’S. The estimated cost of the tour will be $750. The 1st Payment/Deposit is due by Sept. 16 - $100 (THIS PAYMENT IS YOUR COMMITMENT TO GO ON TOUR, AND IS NONREFUNDABLE). Please pay the office and return the receipt to Mr. Findlay or Mr. Reeder so they can record it as well. We also need chaperones, so please invite a parent or relative to join us. They will also need to pay the deposit.
The school is in need of a few more parents to be on the school community council. If you are interested, please call Teri Basinger at the High School 734-4840. There is a meeting once a month for about 4 months and the meetings are in the evening.
Picture day is Tuesday, September 6th. Dress appropriately. Lifetouch will have the tux and drapes available for any seniors that didn’t get their pictures taken during the summer or want a retake for the yearbook. Pictures packages will be available for all grades.
Students will register on-line for their Bee Time class beginning Tuesday, September 6th through Thursday, September 9th at the following times: Seniors 5:00 pm Tuesday Juniors 7:00 am Wednesday Sophomores 5:00 pm Wednesday We will be holding Bee Time beginning Monday, September 12.
If you have been referred by a teacher, you will already be scheduled in a class. If you do not schedule yourself a Bee Time teacher, one will be selected for you.
