It is incredibly regrettable that Representative Jason Chaffetz, as Chair of the House Oversight Committee, refuses to hold Donald Trump accountable for his many and varied conflicts of interest such as retaining his business holdings while running our country and withholding his tax records despite the public’s overwhelming opinion that he release them. In August, Rep. Chaffetz agreed when he said “If you’re going to run and try to become the president of the United States, you’re going to have to open up your kimono and show everything, your tax returns, your medical records,” But his tune has since changed and he is now giving Trump a free pass despite his duty as Chairman of the Office of Government Ethics.
I ask you, as a newspaper in his represented state of Utah, to cover this vital story. Based on the recent poll by the Salt Lake City Tribune, the people of Utah want Mr. Chaffetz to do his job. We applaud the Salt Lake City Tribune’s coverage of this story. We hope that you will serve your role as our watchdogs of democracy and cover this important story as well.

===========================To the editor,
Representative Chaffetz, as Chair of the House Oversight Committee, is not holding Donald Trump accountable for his conflicts of interest. In August he stated that “If you’re going to run and try to become the president of the United States, you’re going to have to open up your kimono and show everything, your tax returns, your medical records,” However now he seems to have abandoned that idea completely and is devoting his energy to blocking efforts to investigate Trump’s conflicts of interest by the head of the Office of Government Ethics. Based on the recent poll by the Salt Lake City Tribune, the people of Utah feel Mr. Chaffetz should do his job. I applaud the Salt Lake City Tribune’s coverage of this important story and hope that you will follow suit. Please serve the press’s role as a watchdog of democracy by covering this important story also.
Thank you,

Hello,
I am a concerned citizen who is outraged by the actions/disaction of Representative Chaffetz. As the Chair of the House Oversight Committee, it is his responsibility to hold Donald Trump accountable for his conflicts of interest.
In August he was quoted saying, “If you’re going to run and try to become the president of the United States, you’re going to have to open up your kimono and show everything, your tax returns, your medical records,” Where is this Representative Chaffetz? Perhaps out of fear of repercussion, he has been giving Trump a free pass. Instead he has begun to after public servants like the head of the Office of Government Ethics.
The power of the media and the preservation of free press has come under attack, and as free Americans we must do all we can to protect and demand our right to information. As a newspaper in Utah I am asking you to cover this important story. Based on the recent poll by the Salt Lake City Tribune, the people of Utah want Mr. Chaffetz to do his job. I applaud the Salt Lake City Tribune’s coverage of this story. We hope that you will serve your role as our watchdogs of democracy as well.
With Respect,

Dear Sentinel News,
Although I am a constituent of the state of California, I think we can all agree that President Trump's conflicts of interest are a concern for all Americans.
Representative Jason Chaffetz did well to stand up to President Trump back in August, when he said, "If you’re going to run and try to become the president of the United States, you’re going to have to open up your kimono and show everything, your tax returns, your medical records."
But now, he is backtracking his position and even punishing public servants.
As Chair of the House Oversight Committee, it is Representative Chaffetz's duty to hold President Trump accountable for his conflicts of interest. A majority of Utahns (65%) are demanding that Chaffetz do his job.
As journalists, you understand the importance of reporting the vital facts to your readers. You are their beacon of truth. I request that you have the courage and integrity to cover this story, just like the Salt Lake City Tribune did.

I'm a Seattle resident, but I'm writing you because I'm disappointed that Representative Chaffetz, as Chair of the House Oversight Committee, is not holding Donald Trump accountable for his conflicts of interest. I was encouraged back in August when he said that someone trying to become president of the United States, should be transparent with the American people, however, he seems to have changed his tune. I'm sure there are a number of reasons as to why he's shifting his focus from Trump and instead going after Walter Shaub. As a newspaper in Utah, I'm asking you to cover this important story and uncover those reasons for his constituents. Based on the recent poll by the Salt Lake City Tribune, the people of Utah want Mr. Chaffetz to do his job and hold President Trump accountable. I'm so appreciative to the Salt Lake City Tribune for covering this story, and I would be so appreciative if Sentinel News would too. I hope that you will serve your role as our watchdogs of democracy and cover this important story.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Malilong

am writing because I am extremely concerned and upset that the Utah state representative, Representative Chaffetz, as Chair of the House Oversight Committee, is not holding Donald Trump accountable for his conflicts of interest. This is a huge breach of our democracy, whichever side of the aisle you fall on.
Representative Chaffetz seems to have done an about-face on his comments earlier this year—he is now trying to silence the voices of public servants who are trying to hold Donald Trump accountable.
I am writing to ask you, a newspaper representing Chaffetz' constituency, to hold him accountable by covering this story. Based on the recent poll by the Salt Lake City Tribune, the people of Utah want Mr. Chaffetz to do his job. I applaud the Salt Lake City Tribune’s coverage of this story, and I hope that you will serve your role as our watchdogs of democracy and cover this important story.
Thank you very much,

===Dear Editor:
Representative Chaffetz, Chair of the House Oversight Committee seems to NOT be holding Mr. Trump accountable for the conflicts of interest he is currently embroiled in. Mr. Trump has NOT gone far enough in divesting himself from the many business conflicts he has, and in fact appears to be trying to utilize slight of hand techniques to give the appearance of divestiture.
Please ask Representative Chaffetz to refocus on Mr. Trump who is the real culprit in this scenario and to stop becoming sidelined by pursuing the head of the Office of Government Ethics. Rep. Chaffetz must pursue Donald Trump and get him to truly, completely and cleanly separate from his business interests. If Mr. Trump does not want to do so, then he needs to back away from the presidency. Mr Trump cannot and should not be involved in this dual role. Rep. Chaffetz needs to pursue this as his priority.
Please continue to investigate this matter and urge Rep Chaffitz to do his duty to his constituents and to the American Public as he is the Chair of the House Oversight Committee. He has sworn to uphold this duty in taking his oath of office and in accepting the Chairship of the House Oversight Committee.
Thank you!
