What hunters should expect for this fall’s upland game hunts

SALT LAKE CITY — If you didn’t draw out for any of the big game hunt drawings, but would still like the opportunity to hunt this fall, you still can! The majority of the upland game hunts in Utah are free and open to anyone with a Utah hunting license. So whether it’s a long-standing tradition or you are wanting to harvest a new species like chukar or grouse, here are a few things you should know that will help you have success. 

For many parents, August is a month of both pride and tears. Pride because their teenager is taking that big educational step and tears because for many it's the beginning of an empty nest. Yet, there's a going-away-to-college question that far too few parents ask or even contemplate: What will my youngster learn in college?

Student unrest in many universities demonstrates what is becoming obvious; institutions of higher learning are becoming radicalized and project intolerance for anything but a liberal view.  Too few permit conservative or libertarian speakers and far fewer a constitutionalist.

Congress may soon vote on the "New NAFTA" -- the revamped trade deal to modernize 1980s-vintage rules that have done much to grow North American commerce. Mexico already ratified the pact. Canada is expected to do so imminently.

Here in the United States, however, some lawmakers want to rewrite the deal, known as the "United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement," at the eleventh hour. 

Wildlife Board approves final permits for cougar, bobcat hunts in 2019-20

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Wildlife Board approved slightly more cougar permits and slightly fewer bobcat permits for the 2019-20 hunts during the board meeting on Thursday.
