Working Together to Save Lives

Pleasant View—Pleasant View residents were able to come together on November 21 for a blood drive held at a local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ (LDS) meetinghouse. The event was held by the American Red Cross and served as another example of the partnership the Red Cross has with the LDS Church. According to the Red Cross website, both organizations have worked together for nearly 100 years helping those in need.

Ready to Face the Competition

Pleasant View—Coach Mark Larsen is excited to see Weber High boys’ basketball team compete this season. He is in his fifth year as the head coach and says that even though the team was young last year, this year everyone is coming back stronger and more skilled. “I love the competition that basketball brings. I also enjoy the fact that it is such a fast paced game. You don't have much time to dwell on anything, just focus on playing the next play,” he said through an e-mail.

… In the spring when I was made aware of the USOE putting words in my mouth I contacted Judy Park several times, through email and phone messages to no avail until I sent a more honest email to her one day, she immediately responded. I will enclose our emailed conversation.

Taking Music a 'Half-Step' Further

Lomond View Elementary—I arrived at the school ready to observe a class taught by the brand new music teacher, Daniel White.  I made my way through the 55-year-old maze of classrooms to arrive at the far end of the school next to Alan Rhees' 6th grade class.  Daniel White met me at the door with a grin and a welcome that immediately made me feel right at home.  I quietly took a seat in the back of the classroom and watched as he skillfully slipped into a review of the last lesson he had taught the class.  I was impressed with the ease with which these 11 and 12-year-olds popped off answers
