Student from Fremont High School Wins Trip to Germany

Plain City—Remember the nervous feeling you get whenever you have to go to an interview, whether it’s for a job or for school? You hope you have everything prepared just right and that you don’t forget anything important or mess up on a question?  Now imagine having to go to an interview and having it conducted in an entirely different language. It seems like a pretty daunting task; but, for Calder Lake, that’s exactly what he had to do and now his hard work has paid off as he gets to go study for four weeks over in Germany along with 44 other students from across the nation.

Newlife Northview Church put on a huge Easter Candy Hunt and activity April 4th. Hundreds showed up to this event. Having a bouncy house, face painting, sidewalk art, and a station for the kids (and parents) to go to and learn the true meaning of Easter, which told about the death and resurrection of Jesus. Everyone had a great time! The members of Newlife Northview and 7 different businesses joined forces to bring this event to life. They worked on this for several weeks gathering donations from the community and from the members.

Taking a Shot at the National Free Throw Contest

West Haven—Nine-year-old Jayden Perry has the chance to compete at the Elks Hoop Shot National Free Throw Contest on April 18. The contest has been going on now for 44 years and is open to boys and girls between the ages of 8-13. Many famous sports legends have competed at the event including Trajan Langdon, who play for the Cleveland Cavaliers for three years, and Chris Mullin, who played for the Golden State Warriors and won two Olympic gold medals with the U.S.A. men’s basketball team.

No Water Restrictions for Northern Utah

Utah had one of the driest winters on record during the 2014-2015 Season. While sunny days and mild weather were welcomed by many, scientists worried about Utah's water levels.

With the growing season just staring, many places in Utah are beginning to impose water restrictions, though mostly in central and southern Utah. Northern Utah, however, will most likely not see any mandatory water restrictions.

Our Lost Constitution

In 1787, 11 years after the United States declared its independence, the Founding Fathers came together to write the Constitution.

 

Prior to this, the U.S. was guided by the Articles of Confederation that prohibited a central government and allowed each individual state, in part, to operate as separate entities with its own set of rules, regulations and laws. This caused a lot of chaos and fighting, especially in areas of trade and commerce. It also left the new country defenseless without a military to defend it.
